The Bambisanani Partnership Working Together, Learning Together

Registered Charity Number: 1163461

Founded: 2006 The Bambisanani Partnership is a unique collaboration developed by St.

Mary’s Menston in Leeds, UK and Mnyakanya High School in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Bambisanani is the Zulu word meaning 'working hand in hand'. 'Bambisanani' aptly encapsulates the philosophy of the partnership which significantly now includes both the University of Leeds and Leeds Trinity University as key members. Our partnership uses sport as a major catalyst to develop international underst

anding, education, health and leadership. The initiative, which began in 2006, has gained both national and international acclaim and is a registered charity. Over the past 14 years more than 10,000 students from the UK and South Africa have participated in Bambisanani Partnership programms and projects.

Finally, our team who have provided the below round up:

We have had an incredible week and a half filled with unforgettable experiences, learning opportunities, and amazing memories.

🏅 Day 1: We went shopping for sports equipment to support our sports sessions, and the students had time to practise and develop their skills.

🏫 Day 2: We had the opportunity to visit Gratton School, where the students and staff gave us a fantastic welcome.

🦁 Day 3: We visited Hluhluwe Game Reserve and were lucky enough to see four of the Big Five – an unforgettable experience!

🔥 Day 4: A well-earned day of relaxation by the dam, enjoying a traditional braai and taking in the beautiful surroundings.

⚽ Days 5–9: We spent the week teaching at Vumanhlamvu Primary School. This was an incredible experience, and we hope to continue working with the school when we return to England, helping to raise funds for a new sports field and supporting future opportunities for the students.

💙 Today, we joined forces with St Marys Menston and Newcastle College to work at Thembinfundo Special School. We are excited to continue making a positive impact and learning from the amazing students and staff we meet along the way.

Thank you to everyone who has welcomed us and supported this journey so far. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the trip brings!

Harry and Dan are part of the 12 Newcastle College students who will travel to South Africa this summer and are raising funds to support their visit!
