Yesterday, we installed some new nameplates. 16 I total. There is still an opportunity to donate as there is space for a further 20 nameplates. This equates to an additional 100 names. Please go to our JustGiving page - linked in our bio.

The second set of nameplates has been installed this afternoon: 16 plates equalling 80 names in total. We actually have 82, so we will wait for more names and either install the nameplates adhoc or as a group.

After the glorious Spring and early Summer - when the flowerbeds looked luscious and full - we are aware that the recent and continuous extreme temperatures has affected them detrimentally and that they are now unfortunately past their best.

This seems to happen each year, therefore we are going to look into how we can extend the season beyond the end of the Summer and into early Autumn, with the introduction of a few late season flowering plants, possibly similar to the ones surrounding the fountain. This will be a job for the Springtime. Any ideas will be most welcome.

In the meantime, we will continue to water and maintain them, unless a hosepipe ban is introduced, immediately haltering the watering aspect.

‘Happy new hosepipe day’

In addition to looking after Ilkley Fountain, you’ll find us watering the station plaza flowerbeds during drier weather. As it’s been a wetter Spring, we’ve only needed to do this very recently. Many thanks to Clip 'N Climb Ilkley Ltd for the ongoing use of the tap.

The flowerbeds have had a hard prune and we are aware there are some gaps that need filling; we aim to sort these areas when appropriate, possibly Springtime.

** Donations**

If you wish to secure a naming spot in this current series, then this weekend is your last chance as we are going to be sending them off for fabrication next week with a view to installing them later this month.

There will be other opportunities for you to donate, however it will be the Autumn before we contemplate processing another set of naming plates.

A second concrete ring has been installed today in advance of the nameplates. Once this is dry, we will restore the height of the fountain spray, which we hope will be this Wednesday.
