As we get towards Christmas, the Beavers get crafty with even leader Owl getting stuck in. Baubles, Crackers and Card, they were really busy on Thursday with lots of good creations all round! 🎄🎉

Another Friday, another ! To the scout section in 2019 and a skills night. We're all big on general life skills, and the Scouts at the time tried their hand in six or seven different ones. These included changing a bike tyre, wiring a plug and the notoriously hard to do sewing a badge! It's pleasing when we come round to do these another year, and there's clear improvement from those who have done in previously 💡🧵🚲

Last week our Beavers did a few bits for St Andrews Day! Some welly wanging got them all in the Scottish spirit, followed by creating some celebratory flags. No leaders took a welly to the face, so we can consider it a good evening all round!

Back on the 10th November, our scout section was part of the remembrance day parade in Ilkeston town centre, joining to pay their respects to those who have lost their lives as part of conflict around the world. They looked smart, and applied themselves tremendously.

Last Sunday you might have spotted us at Morrisons for our yearly bag packing session. We're once again left amazed by peoples generosity, with a whopping £750 being raised, thank you!
Every penny of that will go directly to the cost of camps and events for the kids. 🥳🙌
Lots of good work done across all the sections, with the wonderful Squirrels making a first bag packing appearance 🐿️

Todays takes us to 2011, where we revisit the Cub section and their trip to Brownsea Island. Campers on the island are encouraged to get stuck in, and this often means helping to clear land. The Cubs of the time all threw themselves into the task, doing some good solid manual labour!

The police have come to the Squirrel Drey! Thankfully they weren't there to arrest any rogue 4/5 year olds (they're a good bunch!), but for the kids to get to know a little bit about them. Lots learned, lots of fun questions asked, and they even got to have a sit in the police car🚓 👮

FORE! Our Cubs recently visited Erewash Valley Golf club for a session on their driving range. Tiger Woods? Perhaps not, but some good form shown and all the balls at least went in the right direction! 🏌️🏌️

On Saturday for our 70th we had ourselves a reunion party! Lots of faces from over the years as well as the current leadership teams. Pictures include the current section leaders, Sandra, Nikki, Diane and Chris, whilst Diane and Chair Carole did the cake cutting. Special mention goes to our scouting friends from Holland, Hans and Rene, who made the journey over specially to come and join us in our celebrations! 🥳🥳

Happy Birthday to us! The 21st has reached the grand age of 70 🥳🎈
Thank you to everyone who's been a part of the group, whether that's as a member, parent, helper or leader. A couple of weeks or a number of years, currently or long ago, you've all played your part in us reaching this massive milestone. Here's to another 70 plus!🎉

Recent scout adventures included a couple of sessions over at Alter Rock in Derby for all things climbing, highly recommend if you fancy trying it. Abseiling, walls, caving and an air walk, it was a fantastic experience with a few fears of heights overcome!🙌
