Don’t forget our plant sale tomorrow at the horticultural hut from 2.30-6.00pm. There will be lots of bedding plants and perennials, as well as our staple gardening supplies such as compost & fertilisers.
If you can’t make tomorrow, we will have our usual flower stall on Festival Day (13 June) in Milton Court, so catch us then.
Happy gardening…

Hopefully today’s hail shower hasn’t upset your flower entries for the Spring Show on Saturday 28th March. Don’t worry, there’s still time to exhibit. Just fill in the entry form, which is in your Show Schedule & hand it in by 7pm tomorrow (Thurs 26th). Of course you might be entering a class that isn’t weather dependant e.g. photography, handicrafts & domestic…can’t wait to see all the entries!

Members might be interested in an upcoming library talk on “The Herbs of Hamnet”.

Step into the richly textured world of Hamnet and discover the herbs that shape its story.

Drawing on Elizabethan herbal knowledge, this engaging talk will explore how herbs were used for healing, protection, and everyday life in Shakespeare's time.

There are two sessions: Thursday 26 February 11.30-12.30 and Tuesday 3 March 7-8pm.

Places can be booked at Herbs of Hamnet - Discover Hillingdon

Happy New Year to all our members.

News from the hut is that our seed potatoes are now in stock and onion sets are due very soon.

We hope by now you have received your 2026 Show Schedule. Please checkout the classes for the spring show & consider entering something. You never know, you could be the best in class 🥇or even 2nd/3rd in class 🥈🥉It’s all good natured competition.

While there’s no shortage of rainwater for the birds to drink & bathe in, please keep your feeders topped up to help our feathered friends. If you are fond of watching the birds in your garden, why not take part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, which is running from 23-25 January. It’s easy to register & is the UK’s biggest citizen science wildlife survey.

Have a great weekend…

It’s not too late to plant your bulbs - now half price. Why not pop down to the hut tomorrow 10.30-12.

Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM last Friday evening. It was a great night with lots of wine, food & cake. Well done to all the trophy winners and the quiz winners.

It is always lovely to get feedback from our members and we were thrilled to get a thank you letter from our Sunflower competition winner, Carly, who grew an amazing 155cm tall sunflower. Thank you for your super drawing and we’re glad the Amazon voucher came in handy. (If anyone is wondering what a labubu is, it’s a character, as pictured).
Next year’s sunflower competition kicks off at the Spring Show on Saturday 28th March 2026.
