Diversity Matters North West

Diversity Matters North West Diversity Matters North West is a charity that promotes stronger communities and tackles health problems and inequality.

Diversity Matters North West is a local charity that’s here to promote stronger communities and tackle health problems and inequalities. Like many areas of the UK, Hyde has some problems with poor health, exclusion and some divisions in our communities. Diversity Matters North West is here to tackle those problems and promote Hyde as a community. Our three main priorities are
• To tackle issues t

hat have an impact on people’s health and well being
• To provide targeted support for disadvantaged and excluded parts of our community
• To end the divisions that exist in some parts of our local community

We want to build local people’s ability to help themselves and others. We do this by working with volunteers from the local community and in partnership with other organisations. We run a range of programmes, activities, classes, advice surgeries, forums and campaigns. By taking part in our courses and volunteering we help people release their potential. We do this by building their confidence and improving their knowledge and skills. If you’d like to take part in one of our programmes, events or know someone who might benefit, please get in touch

💛 Celebrating Volunteers’ Week! 💛
As Volunteers’ Week shines a spotlight on the incredible people who give their time to support others, we want to take this moment to recognise and celebrate our amazing volunteers here at Diversity Matters North West.
For over 10 years, we’ve been proud to host our annual Volunteer Celebration — a special event dedicated to honouring the dedication, compassion, and hard work of our 60+ volunteers who make such a positive difference in our community every single day.
As a small local charity in the heart of Hyde, we simply couldn’t do what we do without them. This celebration is our way of saying a heartfelt thank you 💕
✨ How you can help ✨
To make this year’s Volunteers’ celebration even more special, we’re looking for donations of small prizes for our Lucky Dip on the day.
We’d be especially grateful for items such as:
• Wax melts
• Bath bombs
• Small beauty items
• Scented candles
• Keyrings
• Puzzles or fidget toys
• Stationery
• Colouring books
• Small toys and gifts
Every donation, big or small, will help us create a truly joyful and memorable day for our volunteers and their families.
Thank you for helping us celebrate the people who give so much 💛🎉

Join us tomorrow for our regular GMP Drop-In Session! 📅 This is a fantastic opportunity to engage in an open and honest conversation about a very important topic that affects many people.
The topic for tomorrow is Coercive Control - What is it? How to recognise it and how to report it. 💡
Did you know that coercive control is a pattern of behaviour that can be very subtle, yet extremely damaging? It's essential to understand the signs and symptoms to protect yourself and those around you. This session is an opportunity to discuss the theme in-depth, ask questions, and raise any concerns you may have with our friendly female GMP Officers. They will be there to listen, offer guidance, and provide support. So mark your calendars for tomorrow and join us for a informative and empowering session! 💪

Last week, we finally had the opportunity to bring together all our amazing Volunteers, dedicated Staff, and esteemed Trustees to celebrate a monumental achievement - Diversity Matters North West receiving the prestigious King's Award for Voluntary Service! It was an honor to be joined by some distinguished Guests, including Shibley Alam, the Civic Mayor of Tameside, and the Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh, who took time out of their busy schedules to share in our joy. The event was a truly joyous celebration of receiving this esteemed award, but more importantly, it was a celebration of our incredible Volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this award possible. This one is for them! 🙏 Our Chief Executive Officers took to the stage to deliver heartfelt speeches, praising the unwavering dedication and hard work of the volunteers who have been instrumental in making this award a reality. They highlighted the countless hours, sleepless nights, and endless efforts that our volunteers have put in to make a positive impact in our community. A lovely lunch was served, accompanied by lively conversations and laughter, followed by a delicious celebratory cake that was the perfect way to cap off the afternoon. The atmosphere was electric, filled with a sense of pride, gratitude, and accomplishment. We are so grateful to have such a fantastic team and we can't wait to see what the future holds for us! 🎉
