🎵Just a week to go until the biggest music gig of the summer! 🎵

The students are busy busy busy rehearsing for Alder's Summer Concert and we love what we're hearing! The standard of acts is really high; we're sure you're going to be blown away with the line up on the night. Don't forget our Drama Club will also be entertaining you with a short rendition of the play Heathers.

Tickets are available on Parent Pay, priced at just £3 per adult and £1 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Next Wednesday 24thJune in the main hall
5.30-7.30pm (doors open at 5.20pm)
Light refreshments available in the interval for a small donation.

💫Year 11 Leavers Assembly – Thursday 18th June 🎶

Alder Class of 2026, we are looking forward to welcoming you back into school tomorrow to say our final goodbye.

Please arrive at 10:50am and enter via the side gate. We’ll have our Sharpies at the ready for shirt signing on the L block playground during brunch, with a specially selected play list of songs. You’ll have a chance to say goodbye to staff and students before going into your final assembly at 11:20am.

This is always such an emotional and special day as our students celebrate the end of their journey with us and say farewell to staff and friends 💚

Students should attend in school uniform. Shirt signing is optional.

GCSE Art, Photography and Textiles Exhibition 2026

This year's exhibition is taking place on Monday 29th June between 3.30pm-5.30pm in B corridor. Everyone is welcome to drop in during these times and show their support for our Y11 students who, as usual, have created some amazing pieces of work.

It's also useful for any KS3 students who have an interest in these subjects to be inspired, and to get an idea of the kind of work they could produce at GCSE level.

🎨Art Club Update🎨

Yesterday after school our Art Clubbers started making their sketchbooks, using cardboard as a base and magazine pages for the cover. You can see how well they did, and we've also included a picture of a finished sketchbook Miss Fieldhouse made at the weekend to inspire our students.

If you couldn't come yesterday, there's another chance tomorrow after school in B3 to make the cover.

Next week we'll be sewing the pages in and finishing our sketchbook, ready to get doodling in them!

🎨Art Club Update 🎨

How well did these wax entrapment pieces turn out? The students loved making them and were really pleased with the results. They'll make lovely window mobiles with the sun shining through them! 🌞

It was a new skill and technique for the students to learn and we think they did great...well done, everyone! 👏

The next Art Club is on Monday after school in B5, where we will be learning the art of sketchbook making. Everyone is welcome, just come along and give it a go.

⭐️ Headteacher's Award Winners ⭐️

Hard work, determination and excellence deserve recognition! We're proud to celebrate this week's Headteacher's Award winners:

💫Natalia, Year 8, for going above and beyond to ensure she has everything she needs to revise for upcoming KS3 exams. Always diligent and hardworking in lessons.

💫Edee, Year 10, is consistently engaged and working hard, showing real resilience when solving mathematical questions in chemistry. She puts in extra time to complete practice questions thoroughly and acts upon all advice given.

💫Oscar, Year 11, is an excellent prefect on duty, demonstrating leadership and responsibility.

💫Amelia, Year 7, always shows academic excellence in History, achieving outstanding results and engaging passionately in every lesson.

💫Roksana, Year 10, has taken on an extra GCSE in Persian this year and given an incredible amount of time, effort and determination to achieve highly. She worked tirelessly during evenings, weekends and school holidays to deliver an outstanding performance in her speaking exam and has achieved full marks in nearly all past exam papers.

You should be very proud of your dedication, hard work and positive attitudes. Well done! 👏

🎵Forget Download, Reading or Parklife Festivals...listen to the best music this summer at Alder's Summer Concert!🎵

Rehearsals are well underway for the biggest gig of the season; our talented students are putting the hours in practising to be the best they can be, and we can't wait to see them on stage.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the show, you can bring them whole family - the more the merrier!

🎨Art Club Update 🎨

This week in Art Club we're completing our wax entrapment work, and will share pics with you in the next few days once we've done all the finishing touches.

This half term, we've got another exciting programme of Art Club activities to take you through to the summer holidays. Everyone is welcome, and if you've never been before, just come along and give it a go!

🎭 ¡Qué día tan fantástico! 🎭

Our Year 8 students were treated to a brilliant Spanish theatre production today – Un Ensayo Desastroso by the Onatti Theatre Company! This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience Spanish language and culture brought to life on stage. ✨

A special well done to our brave students who volunteered to take part in the show, you were fantastic! 🌟

A huge thank you to the parents who made a financial contribution to make this experience possible for our students. Your support helps us provide these enriching opportunities!
