WEAR YOUR POPPY WITH PRIDE

As we approach the Remembrance period, we encourage all Air Cadets to wear their poppy with pride and respect.

We’ve shared some useful guidance on how to correctly wear your poppy with your uniform, helping you look smart and honour the occasion.

We wish all our cadets and adult volunteers the very best with their preparations for the coming weeks.

We look forward to seeing and hearing about your Remembrance events, parades and acts of commemoration as we come together to remember and honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today.

🌺 We Will Remember Them.

Last night, the Wing celebrated, not only the 85th anniversary of the Air Training Corps, but the formation of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire Air Training Corps.

A great night with so many people from across the Wing, our supporters, alumni and friends from across RAFAC.

A great time was had by all and I want to personally thank the Wing Mess Committee for helping to arrange the event at The Belfrey Cambridge and those who helped run events last night.

It was so interesting to hear from those people in the hotel, who were ex-cadets or ex-military. An insight from former cadets from 134 Sqn and 2484DF, who enjoyed talking about their experiences when they were cadets.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made it such a success.

My only apology was the ducks ran out 🐣 and we had to resort to tickets. I hope the lucky raffle prize winners enjoy their prizes. Thank you everyone who donated, especially the Yeoman Warders from the Tower of London, very much appreciated and sort after prizes 👍

Here’s to next year.

On Day 4 of National Cadets Week, we are extremely proud to share this story about a 1094 Ely Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets cadet. This is a fantastic example of the skills that can be developed by being a member of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.

"Ely Air Cadet Kaylah Haselum put RAF Air Cadets first-aid training into practice when her three-week-old brother became seriously unwell
The 15-year-old Ely Air Cadet has been described as a “hero” by her mother after putting the skills she learned through her RAF Air Cadets Bronze First Aid training into practice during a frightening family emergency.
Senior Cadet Kaylah Haselum was at home when her three-week-old baby brother became seriously unwell.
While her mother was understandably panicking and trying to process what was happening, Kaylah remained calm enough to assess her brother, including checking his breathing. She quickly recognised that the situation was an emergency and that professional medical assistance was needed.
Kaylah contacted the emergency services and followed the instructions she was given while continuing to support her family.
The family was subsequently taken to the emergency department, where Kaylah continued to help care for her baby brother, including helping to keep him cool with ice packs. She also calmly explained what had happened to medical staff and helped communicate the situation to key personnel caring for him.
Her mother, Dana Haselum, believes that Kaylah's ability to remain calm, recognise that something was seriously wrong and take appropriate action made a significant difference during those critical moments.
