A huge thank you to all of our families who donated sweets for our stall at Party in the Park on Saturday. Your generosity helped us raise an amazing £108.95 for our unit! 🍬🎉

A special thank you also goes to Caterpillar and the team for running the stall throughout the day, especially in the less-than-ideal weather conditions. Your hard work and enthusiasm are very much appreciated.

Finally, thank you to FOSH - Friends of St Helens School for inviting us to be part of such a fantastic community event.

Today, Dragonfly and I had the privilege of attending Girlguiding Celebrates, an event that recognises volunteers from across the UK for their contribution to guiding.

I was nominated by an anonymous parent last year, but wasn't able to attend at the time, so being there today was particularly special.

To the parent who nominated me, thank you. To be put forward for something like this was both humbling and deeply touching, and your kindness has meant a great deal 🥲.

I'd also like to thank our incredible volunteer team. Any contribution I make is only possible because of the support, friendship and dedication of the amazing volunteers I work alongside every week. Guiding is truly a team effort ❤️.

And for Dragonfly, the highlight of the day was undoubtedly dancing with the Deputy Chief Guide (pictured)! 💙

📰 The latest Bluntisham village newsletter is out now. If you'd like to know what happens when you combine flags, bees, sharks, boats and a suspicious number of plasters, our article should answer most of your questions...

📢 We've had such a busy term that squeezing it into a single newsletter page felt like a challenge badge in itself! 📢

This term we've:
🏳️ Raised new flags
🐝 Met beekeepers
🩹 Earned an impressive collection of proudly worn plasters
🎯 Played games from the dawn of civilisation (also known as 1997)
🦈 Planned sleepovers under sharks
🚤 Organised boat trips
💙 Made lots of memories along the way

🌟 Happy Volunteers' Week! 🌟

Our Rainbow and Brownie unit is powered by 25 incredible volunteers.

Some spend their evenings covered in glitter, helping girls build, create and explore while somehow supervising 30 excited Brownies armed with screwdrivers.

Others work their magic behind the scenes, tackling gift aid, paperwork and all the jobs nobody sees but everyone benefits from.

And then there are the sleepover heroes, who can turn a hall into a home-from-home, put up endless air beds, and still have enough energy left to join in the fun.

Whether you're leading activities, making tea, finding lost jumpers, solving impossible problems or simply saying "yes" when help is needed, thank you.

Because of you, our Rainbows and Brownies have adventures, gain confidence, make friends and create memories that last a lifetime. 💙

That keeps it upbeat and gives a nice nod to the very specific skill of organising a hall full of excited girls and air beds! 😄

People know that Girlguiding is a girl organisation… but did you know we’re girl-led too? 💛

That means our Brownies help choose the badges they’d like to work on, the activities they want to try, and the skills they’d love to learn. They also build leadership skills by leading their teams as Sixers and Seconders 🌟

Our Brownies told us they wanted to learn some DIY skills… so tonight we got busy with bradawls, screwdrivers, hammers and clamps to make these very cute wooden hedgehogs 🦔🔨

Girl-led? ✔️
Learning new skills? ✔️
Working together in small teams to share skills? ✔️
One of our favourite activities ever? DOUBLE ✔️✔️

We’re so proud of how creative and determined the girls were tonight, helping each other every step of the way ✨

Flags, friendship, creativity, and LOTS of colourful pens at Brownies tonight 💛🤎🌈

On Tuesday the Brownies worked on their “Fly Your Flag” activity, designing flags all about themselves and the things that make them unique. From favourite hobbies and music to family, pets, and the things they love most, every flag was completely different and full of personality ✨

It was especially lovely to see some girls choosing to include the Girlguiding trefoil on their flags too, showing just how much being part of Brownies is part of who they are 💙🍀

Such a brilliant evening with so much imagination and confidence shining through 🌟

From glitter to campfires, Rainbows in Bluntisham is always an adventure 💛

We get just as much out of it as the girls — campfires 🔥, crafts (and LOTS of glitter ✨), trying new things, and brilliant experiences like sleepovers away (our last one was at a zoo next to the tiger enclosure 🐯).

Every week is something different.

And then there are moments like this 🦉 — seeing the girls try something new and absolutely love it.

We’ve got a brilliant group of girls, and to keep offering all of this we *do need a few more helpers*. Even helping occasionally would make a big difference.

No experience needed — just a bit of time and a willingness to get stuck in.

A huge well done to Hannah for her fantastic work on her Crafts badge! 🧵✨ She’s been busy practising her sewing skills at home, and we’re so proud of her creativity and effort.

It’s wonderful to see what can be achieved with a little practice and enthusiasm why not have a go at some badge activities at home too, Brownies and Rainbows? We’d love to see what you’ve been working on!

In our role as zookeepers, we explored all the animals — including lots we didn’t spot last night! 🐾

One of the highlights had to be stopping to say hello to all the bunnies 🐰💛

With even more food (another two snacks! 😄), everyone was soon full of energy and ready to design their very own zoos. We heard some wonderfully imaginative ideas… including one rather dramatic tale involving a tiger and an unlucky visitor! 🐯

We finished by receiving our gift bags and badges 🎁 before sitting down to yet another huge lunch.

Seriously… where do they put all that food?! 😂

We’re now diving into “a day in the life of a zookeeper” 🐾🦁 — starting bright and early at 8am!

An 8am start? Practically a lie-in compared to a Rainbow leader on a sleepover! 😂
