It's been a while since we have posted anything, as the club has dropped in size quite a bit and we've not managed as many organised events as we used to.

Last week, we visited Newbury Photography Club - UK to take part in their annual Challenge Plate competition, which we have been doing for as long as I can remember. Seven clubs were there in total, and we were delighted to come away with the top prize, after Newbury had won it themselves for the last couple of years.

These are our entries.

Newbury were fantastic hosts as always, with a very warm welcome and a great buffet for the half time break. It's always nice to meet members from other clubs and have a natter. We hope this tradition continues.

Last week, a supermoon and dry weather prompted a last minute decision to head out for some more astro/light painting photos. But then things took a strange turn....

The incredibly bright moon meant astro photography was difficult, and without an interesting foreground, photos of the full moon are all, well, pretty much identical.

So we were standing around trying to decide what to do, and this happened....

Back at the end of November, one of our members spotted a couple of interesting looking old tankers while walking on Salisbury plain.

It's the time of year when evening outings are going to necessitate long exposures or very bright torches, and unfortunately clear skies tends to mean cold.
So, armed with cameras, tripods, and just enough clothes to keep us warm enough to operate them (but no food or hot drinks), a few club members headed back one evening to make the most of the clear skies.

Braving the cold, avoiding the soldiers on quad bikes, and deftly hopping over the electric fence, a few images were made before the cold got too much and we headed back to the warmth of the pub.

Stay tuned for more shenanigans from last week's outing....

Last weekend a few of our members headed down to Bushy Park to see if we could find any deer to photograph. We got there reasonably early, but didn't actually find any deer until mid morning, so no foggy morning light, and it seems we got there a little late in the year for the rut, which looked like it was just about done.

There wasn't as much other wildlife as our last visit six months ago, but there were of course still plenty of parakeets flying around.

We left shortly after noon, when the sun had gone in and the light was rubbish.
Here are a few of our photos from the morning.
