Growing Works Growing Works is a small charity in Kirklees nurturing healthy lives outdoors. We run inclusive and outdoor based activity for all ages and abilities.

Growing Works is dedicated to addressing individual needs through the provision of outdoor, inclusive, therapeutic activities such as gardening, healthy cooking and eating, nature and bush crafts. Our services are based in urban, economically deprived areas of Kirklees, with our main therapeutic site in Dalton, Huddersfield. Projects
Bud – Therapeutic gardening, skills building and outdoor crafts for people aged 18 and over to aid wellbeing, predominantly for those with a range of vulnerabilities or socially isolated. Also offering wellbeing and training sessions open to all, including edible growing courses; foraging discovery walks; bushcraft. Sprout (Strong Parents Reaching Out) – Providing support using a whole family approach that is open to those with children with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health, (SEHM). It offers early intervention, encouraging peer support; providing a safe space for the whole family to feel relaxed and supported. Young Shoots – For young people 13+ with SEND / SEHM. Courses in bushcraft, cooking, conservation and environmental exploration allow life skills, confidence and independence to develop.

Wow! With only a two week lead time Matt and Joshi from BYOB - Beats, Bars & Burners visited our site, chatted with our Young Shoot participants to get their ideas and input, purchased the materials, drew the design and despite the rain delivered the brand new artwork for our entrance to the allotment.

Thank you both for the amazing way in which you engaged with our project. Hidden in plain site the shield bug, vegetables, spider and hedgehog! 🦔

Growing Works had a great Harvest Celebration last Saturday.

If you didn't have chance to join us at The Big Green Space at Wakefield Road Allotments, Dalton, you can join Lucyna this Saturday, 10th October 2pm - 4pm for our Nature's Harvest workshop.

Join us for making the most of the harvest by preserving it for the cold months ahead.
This adult only workshop is free, thanks to funding from Creative Minds

Growing Works are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our outdoor centre at Dalton - The Big Green Space at Wakefield Road Allotments, for our annual open day event - Harvest Celebration - 12pm - 4pm.

Come along and meet team, enjoy the outdoor environment and there are lots of free activities for all ages and abilities.

We are also collecting donations for local food banks. If you have tinned, packaged food items please bring them along on the day too.

Always joy at a Bud day!

The hard work and care from our Bud group over the summer is definitely paying dividends in the allotment.

Its not been an easy growing year with the intense and prolonged hot weather this year and last, however we've managed to maintain healthy plants and a really good harvest.

Bud runs every Tuesday and Thursday at 'The Big Green Space' Wakefield Road Allotments.
