The UK Department of Transport investigates National Highways’ handling, governance and accountability of speed-camera flaws that led to thousands of drivers incorrectly recorded as breaking road speed limits.

An investigation has been ordered into National Highways’ handling of a speed-camera flaw that led to thousands of drivers being incorrectly recorded as breaking the limit.

Heidi Alexander, the transport secretary, will announce this week that an expert-led review will examine whether the agency and its senior leadership acted appropriately and fast enough when the problem was uncovered. It will also try to uncover why the flaw was not spotted earlier.

The investigation, headed by a non-executive director of the Department for Transport (DfT), will also make recommendations on governance and accountability, suggesting that executives could face censure.

Habari Gani? Happy Kwanzaa!

This week, we honor African American heritage, unity, self-determination, creativity, purpose, and the shared responsibility of uplifting our communities. Each principle of Kwanzaa — from Umoja (Unity) to Imani (Faith) — reflects the values Dr. Maya Angelou championed throughout her life: cultural pride, collective strength, and deep-rooted community care.

In “Gather Together in My Name”, Dr. Angelou wrote:
“I believe that every person is born with talent.”

This belief lies at the heart of Kwanzaa. It reminds us that every individual carries a gift — a light meant to be nurtured, shared, and strengthened within the community. As we celebrate this season, may we honor our talents, uplift one another’s potential, and continue building the world our ancestors envisioned.

Wishing you a week of connection, creativity, empowerment, and joy.

Many organisations and humanitarian aids around the world are helping affected Caribbean Islands recover and rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.

However, we encourage donors to be careful of opportunist and scams seeking to capitalise on these unfortunate events. To combat this, for example, use official donation sites if sending monetary funds through established charities or government websites like the Jamaican Government - https://supportjamaica.gov.jm

It appears that we’re experiencing FB downtime after exposing bad practices from so called local “leaders” who ought to have known better.
Nonetheless, hope is having a blessed Easter Sunday 😃
