At last some good news

Huddersfield and Halifax marathons & half marathons, known as; 'The White Rose Marathons', are, as of today, under new management.

All entries from the previously postponed events (managed under either Team OA or Organic Adventure) will automatically be transferred over for you, info on this and other options as and when it is finalised along with an introduction to the new management team.

Lots of news coming soon but for now, a sneak peek at the all-new website graphics.

Plans are now underway for the all-new Halifax Marathon & Half Marathon, they will become part of a brand new running festival, based in Halifax, to run mid Spring 2022, (date to be confirmed)

The team plan to do the same with all the Huddersfield based events so as to create a community-based weekend, a Huddersfield Running Festival, as soon as there is news, we will share it with you here.

Sorry but it's the sad news we think you were expecting!

We’re writing to let you know that we have made the decision to postpone the 2021 Halifax Marathon & Half Marathon and are pleased to have a little positive news for you;

At this moment we do not have a new date set for 2022, it will however be in September at our new venue the ‘Piece Hall’ Halifax, a new route, new location and a new challenge, all in all, a fresh start for the Halifax based event, that's the good news.

The following is pretty much a repeat of the situation we have had with the Huddersfield event so bear with us as much of this is copied!

We have been working incredibly hard to try to deliver the race in a socially distanced format this year, ensuring a safe race day for everyone. We like many of our landowners were waiting on the news from Mr Boris on Monday, sadly as you are aware it was not the positive news we were expecting. There were still outstanding permissions that our going was to be based around the release from lockdown, as you can imagine they are now not giving us the go-ahead, without these we simply can not go ahead. ( we organise many events and they are all affected differently!

We really hope you can join us for the new date as we look forward to welcoming runners to a safe and very special race day. As soon as we have this confirmed and all the permissions in place we will announce the date.

YOUR PLACE
Your place will be automatically transferred to the new date September 2022. If you can take part on the new date, no action is required.
As we know you will understand, although we are hopeful that events will go ahead as planned in 2022, we are not in a position to provide an unconditional guarantee and will be keeping the situation under review. We will contact you nearer the time if we consider it necessary to change the format of events or to postpone or cancel the 2022 September event.
If the event is unable to go ahead in September or the format of the event needs to change to accommodate social distancing, or other measures, implemented by the Government or which we consider necessary in order to ensure everyone's safety, we will email you your options once we know more.
Cant make September 2022 - DEFER TO 2023 AT NO ADDITIONAL COST
If you can’t make the postponed event on September 2022, you can defer to the 2023 date at no additional cost.
If you select this option, later this year, (we can not do anything until we have the new date so absolutely no point contacting us!) We will send you a registration link which you will need to complete to secure your place in either the Huddersfield Marathon or Half Marathon.

The decision to postpone the event yet again filled us with dread but, you have all been absolutely amazing, so soppirtive and understanding, some of the emails we have received have literally had us in tears. Genuinely can not wait to be back with you later this year!

All 2020 events from April 1st through to August 31st will be moved to 2021 dates as follows, please see attached image.

Your Entry
All entries already registered and paid up to May 7th 2020, will automatically move forward to the 2021 date above, if the 2021 date is not suitable we will move your entry over to the 2022 date for you. This can only be done in the month leading up to the event so please do not send us emails requesting this now as we will not be able to process them. We are hopeful that we will not have to add any events later in the year to the list.
If you have already entered and paid your entry fee you do not need to do anything further. There will be no name changes or additional transfers for any of these places, they are yours for either 2020 or 2021.

Refunds
We wanted to inform you ourselves!
As many of you are aware there have been a few event companies go into liquidation over the past 5 to 6 weeks, leaving many people out of pocket with no option of a future event or anything. We fear many more companies will be joining them, we have lost a t-shirt supplier and at this moment we are uncertain as to where we will be able to acquire medals or other mementoes as many of those suppliers have disappeared as well.
We know at the beginning of this current situation we had mentioned that we would offer a 60% refund to those who genuinely could not make an adjusted date for an event, sadly, after looking into the situation we are now presented with, financially we just can not offer to do this without ending the rest of the events and the business.

Other Events.
The smaller events such as Urban Night Series, 4 Seasons 10k etc will all go ahead on revised dates as soon as we have the go-ahead from the government. We are working on a few new events that will join in as midweek races and will let you have more info on these, but again won’t be able to release dates just yet!

Organic Adventure
It is not all doom and gloom and as we have always done we are evolving and growing, we have a couple of new team members joining us they are already working on the new events and will be taking over the race directing at many of the other events too (Wane knows some of you just cheered!) will tell you more about them in the next few weeks or as soon as they dare send a photo in for a little bio.
We know this is possibly not the news any of us want to hear at the moment, but we feel this is the best way to keep the events going for us all.

Good afternoon all,

We have been through every possible scenario that we can think of over the past few days for the next few months of events with regards to the situation presented to us by the COVID-19/ Coronavirus.

We are very sad to announce today that:

Huddersfield Marathon and half June 7th, to be postponed until later in the year we will let you know as soon as we do.

Halifax Marathon and half marathon 28th June, postponed, new date to be announced asap.

Any entries will be carried forward to the new dates as soon as we have them for 2020, if you have already entered you don’t need to do anything further. If when we announce the new date you cannot make it, or would prefer not to run the event on the new date, you are able to cancel your entry then for a 60% refund.

Like many other race organisations, we have tried to wait as long as possible in the hope that the situation would not develop as far as it has. At this present time yours and our safety during the above events is paramount, from a staffing, volunteer, medical team or runner perspective.

- [ ] We require a minimum number volunteers at each event, we can not guarantee this.
- [ ] We face the possibility of staff shortages due to infection and or self isolation, we are aware that many would have to drop in the last hours.
- [ ] Whilst the government has not stated that we have to postpone, for your and our safety this is the best option
- [ ] At this moment technically we could put on some of these events, but we can not guarantee that we will be able to at the time
- [ ] We are able to at this moment to source medical support for the events but again as these provisions become more strained, our events become a low priority and potentially they will be able to provide zero medical cover.
- [ ] We want to provide all our participants the best financial outcome we can, whilst still having the ability to continue events in the future.

Like other events organisers we are feeling quite frankly devastated at this moment in time, and have not taken any of these decisions lightly, we are more than aware of the potential issues and damage that this may cause for us and our events but we hope that you will rally around and support, not just us but all other events out there.

We would like to treat everyone the same way, we hopefully have a clear policy in place now that we can all work with.

We think this is one of the best ideas we have seen in the past couple of years and super proud to support them.
