What I wish people understood about birth trauma

Birth trauma isn't always visible.
Someone may appear to be coping while quietly reliving a frightening or overwhelming birth experience. Even when a baby is healthy, the emotional impact can last long after the birth itself.

Comments like "At least your baby is healthy" are often said with kindness, but they can unintentionally make someone feel that their own experience doesn't matter.
What helps most isn't having the perfect words.
It's listening.
It's believing.
It's letting someone know they don't have to carry their experience alone.
If you've experienced birth trauma, please know your feelings are valid and support is available.

After an ectopic pregnancy, recovery is more than healing physically.
Many people are coping with surgery or emergency treatment while grieving the loss of their pregnancy.

You might feel grateful to be safe, while also feeling heartbroken. Both feelings are valid. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and you don't have to go through it alone.
If you'd like someone to talk to, Talkthru offers compassionate, confidential counselling and support.

Some anniversaries are harder than others. Some ordinary Tuesdays are too.

Loss doesn't always follow a calendar.
Sometimes grief appears on the days you expected.
Sometimes it arrives without warning.

If today feels heavier, you don't have to pretend otherwise.
Be gentle with yourself. Pause if you need to. Reach out if you need support.

You don't have to face difficult days alone.
💙

Healing doesn't mean forgetting. It means finding a way to move forward.
After pregnancy loss or birth trauma, many people tell us they feel isolated or that others don't
fully understand their experience.

Specialist counselling provides something different; a safe, compassionate space where every
emotion is valid, and no explanation is needed.

If you or someone you know could benefit from specialist support, we're here to listen.

Your body may recover first. Your heart may need longer.

After an ectopic pregnancy, much of the focus is on physical recovery. But emotional healing often takes its own path.

You may still be grieving. You may feel anxious about the future, overwhelmed by what happened, or unsure how to move forward. These feelings are valid, no matter how much time has passed.

Healing isn't measured by how quickly life returns to normal. It's about allowing yourself the time and space to process your experience in your own way.

If you're finding the emotional impact harder than expected, please know you're not alone.
Support is available whenever you're ready.

After an ectopic pregnancy or traumatic medical emergency, people often focus on the physical recovery. But the emotional impact can continue long afterwards.

You may be experiencing grief, anxiety, flashbacks, fear about future pregnancies or feelings that are difficult to put into words. Whatever you're feeling, you don't have to face it alone.

Our specialist counsellors provide a safe, confidential space where you can talk openly about your experience, explore your emotions and receive compassionate support without judgement.

Reach out for support.
