Please visit our Fundraising page to support the raffle held in memory of our former player, Cathal Deasy, who sadly passed away in November following a three-year battle with Motor Neuron Disease.

The raffle is organised in memory of our friend and to raise vital funds for Barnardos Children’s Bereavement Services, who provided invaluable support to his family after his passing.

It is with deep sadness that we at Brothers Pearse GAA Club in Huddersfield mourn the passing of our dear former player, Cathal Deasy, who left us earlier this week. Cathal was an integral part of our club in the early 2000s, proudly playing as wing back on the incredible team that achieved three consecutive Senior Championship victories.

Beyond his talent on the pitch, Cathal was an unbelievably kind and caring man. We were truly fortunate to have him as part of our club family. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his mother Phil, his sisters Clíona, Róisín, Siobhán, and brother Pauraic. We also extend our love and support to his loving wife Meabh and their adored children Charlotte, Caoilainn, and Darragh.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Big day for the our town Tomorrow as the tricolour will be raised over the Town Hall for the very first time!

The town Hall will also be Illuminated in Green White and Orange all weekend to Celebrate St Patricks day!

Historic Moment: Irish Tricolour to be Raised Over Huddersfield Town Hall for the First Time

Tomorrow morning, Friday 15th March 2024 In a momentous occasion that marks a significant milestone in the cultural exchange between Ireland and Huddersfield, the Irish Tricolour - an trídhathach - will be raised over The Huddersfield Town Hall for the very first time.

The Irish Flag - bratach na hÉireann - will be presented to Mayo born Kirklees Mayor Cllr Cahal Burke from the Irish Community before it is flown over our town. This symbolic gesture celebrates the strong ties and shared heritage between Ireland and Huddersfield.

The event will be graced by the esteemed presence of the Irish Education Minister, Norma Foley - TD, hailing from Tralee, County Kerry. Minister Foley's attendance adds a touch of prestige to the occasion and underscores the importance of fostering international relations and cultural understanding.

The raising of the Irish Tricolour over Huddersfield Town Hall symbolizes unity, friendship, and respect for diversity. It serves as a testament to the enduring bond between Ireland and Huddersfield, highlighting the values of inclusivity and mutual respect.

The flag will be flown over the whole of the St Patrick's Day weekend and the front of the Town Hall will also be illuminated in the green, white and gold! 💚🤍🧡
