Huddersfield charity Fresh Futures is warning that thousands of young people risk becoming a 'lost generation' without greater investment in their futures

Young people are not the problem. Lack of opportunity is.

Recent conversations about rising numbers of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) should concern us all. But behind every statistic is a real person with ambitions, talents and potential.

At Fresh Futures, we see every day what can happen when young people are given the right support. Through our Post-16 provision at Brian Jackson College and programmes like Elevate, we help young people build confidence, form meaningful connections and take positive steps towards their future.

The challenge isn't a lack of motivation. It's ensuring every young person has access to opportunities, support and environments where they can thrive.

We cannot afford to create a lost generation of young people whose potential goes unrealised.

Every young person deserves a future filled with possibility.

To all of our students, we want you to know how proud we are of you.

Today is about more than grades. It's about recognising the effort, determination and resilience you've shown throughout your journey. Whatever your results, remember that they do not define who you are or what you can achieve.

One set of results cannot measure your character, talents, ambitions or potential. There are many different routes to success, and your story is only just beginning.
