We had a wonderful open day at Shared Goods, it was wonderful to see so many lovely visitors to our new premises. Thank you for coming to see us and hearing more about our services.

Rojhat, friend of Shared Goods , performed at the recent Huddersfield Refugee Week event as part of 6 million +. Many amazing performances and contributions across the afternoon in the Lawrence Batley Theatre summer courtyard space, an attentive audience and delicious food! Thank you to everyone involved in supporting the wonderful event.

Over recent weeks there have been a number of wonderful events across the UK celebrating Refugee Week.

Henry will be joining our friends at 6 million + for the upcoming Remembering Srebrenica workshops and memorial event. Details of the event can be found on the 6 million + fb page.

I've been sleeping outside and waking early, capturing the bird song before the sun makes the day unbearable!

For the rest of this month and the first part of July I'm working on a music project to mark the genocide that took place in Bosnia at Srebenica in July 1995 - the project is called 'Feathers For Srebenica' and links the birds of Bosnia to the birds of Kirklees, West Yorkshire where many displaced Bosnians came to start new lives in the mid 1990s to escape the atrocities.

I feel very honoured to be working on this project alongside 6 million + and the amazing Bosnian musician Sanja Cin

On the 11th July [international day of reflection and commemoration of the Srebenica genocide] we will showcase our recorded work which weaves bird song, folk song and poetry together with a live element, at the Long Causeway Church in Dewsbury ☀️☀️

Remembering Jo Cox on the 10th anniversary of her
death.
“We have far more in common than that which divides us.”

Today marks ten years since Jo was killed.

We remember Jo as a mother, sister, daughter, wife, friend, campaigner and public servant. We remember her courage, her compassion, and her belief that we have more in common than that which divides us.

This is a day for reflection. It is also a moment to recommit to the work Jo inspired: building a kinder, fairer, more tolerant world, and choosing connection over division.
