Our Deaf awareness project has now come to an end. We are super proud of how successful it has been!
We visited nearly ten schools, seeing over 1500 children. We trained over 30 people in basic sign language through a fabulous 4 week course, run by . We have included BSL at 4 local events and put BSL boards up in public areas and schools around Howden.
We have had some great feedback and thoroughly enjoyed helping to create a more inclusive town ❤️

SHaKE has been busy supporting local schools to be in line with Benedict's Law!
Yesterday we delivered lifesaving anaphylaxis packs to:
🏫 Hook Primary School
🏫 Barmby-on-the-Marsh Primary School
🏫 Eastrington Primary School

Before the holidays, we also visited Howden Junior School and Airmyn Park Primary, helping them allto become compliant.

So, what is Benedict's Law?
Benedict's Law is designed to ensure schools have access to spare adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs) so that if a child or adult experiences an anaphylactic reaction, lifesaving medication is available quickly when it is needed.

Our support has helped save hundreds of pounds for these schools - money that can instead be spent on educating and supporting children. 📚

Most importantly, it means these schools are better prepared for that "what if?" moment. If someone experiences anaphylaxis at school, having lifesaving medication immediately available could save a life.

On Friday we completed our last of our Scool D/deaf awareness sessions, at Delta - Goole High School. We met hundreds of students and we were amazed at their enthusiasm, interest and their brilliant questions (especially year 8! 👏)
