This Volunteers’ Week, we want to highlight the impact of the amazing groups coming from a range of businesses and organisations who support us through volunteering.

In 2025, we welcomed 124 people across 27 staff teams into our warehouse. They generously gave almost 500 hours of volunteering time, equalling around 500 more parcels going out to more families in need.

If your company offers team volunteering or you are part of a team who want to help a good cause, then we’d love to hear from you.

“Why can’t you take pre-loved car seats?”

This is a question we’ve been asked quite a few times, and although we’re always grateful for your quality donations, there’s a few reasons why we don’t take donations of pre-loved car seats…

Firstly, we cannot reliably test or guarantee their safety:
If a car seat has been in any bump or accident (big or small) it isn’t considered safe to be reused. Even if you promise us that your car seat has never been in an accident, we have no way of verifying.

Secondly, car seats have expiration dates:
Most car seats have a shelf life of around 6 years (including the time before you bought it). This is because the plastic components of the seat can degrade over time, making the seat less reliable after the expiration date.

If you have a car seat you no longer need, some car seat brands have recycling programmes you can use, or else it might have to take it to the local recycling centre

This is the first in a series of posts answering your frequently asked questions about what we do. If you have any more questions about how we work, why we do or don’t take certain items, or anything else about what we do, please comment them below 👇

That’s nearly 10 items per day

🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️

Every donation of new and pre-loved beds and bedding items means more children living in poverty in Brighton & Hove can have a bed of their own, which isn’t too small for them, as well as the right bedding to keep it clean and cosy for a good nights sleep!

We accept flat or fitted sheets, duvet covers and pillow slips, blankets, quilts/duvets and mattress protectors for Moses baskets, cots, cobeds and single beds.

When donating cots or beds, we must be able to pass these on with the assembly instructions. If you don’t have the manual please find it online and print a copy so that you are sure it is being donated with all the requisite parts.

Cots must be less than 10 years old, and have one of the following safety standard codes either on the item or the manual:
BS EN 716-1:2008+A1:2013
BS EN 716-1: 2013
BS EN 716-1:2017
EN 716-1:2017

We don’t accept sleepy heads, snuzpods, next to me cribs, cabin beds, or swinging cribs.

Please make sure to check our website for more information about what we can and can't donate 👇
