🌸⏰ Something beautiful (and blooming!) is ticking in Houghton Regis… ⏰🌸

We’re delighted to that our very own floral clock is now installed and working 🥳

This isn’t about needing a clock to tell the time – it’s about taking pride in our wonderful town, celebrating what makes Houghton Regis special, and creating something that residents can enjoy every day ☺️

With planting set to be completed very soon, this vibrant feature will bring colour, creativity, and a real sense of community spirit to the area. It’s a symbol of what can be achieved when people come together with a shared passion for improving where they live 🌹🪻🌷

A huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing this vision to life. We can’t wait to see it in full bloom and hope it becomes a much-loved landmark for years to come.

We continue to bring our community together in the best way 🥰

We have some blooming brilliant projects coming to life 🤩

Houghton Regis Ladies Group have agreed to make a super special post box topper for the George V former post box in the grounds of our of medieval Grade l listed All Saints - Houghton Regis Parish Church, as we transform this tired beauty back to working life as a ‘Letters to Heaven’ post box 🕊️

Houghton Regis Art Town have started to create a wonderful mural on the back of the Village Green pavilion 🎨🫟🌸🌺

The installation of first and the East of England’s only second working Floral Clock (according to the internet 🤓), all the other ones are broken, sorry we mean decorative 😉 has started on the junction of Parkside Drive and Park Road North.

And the our 83,000 bulbs just keep on being blooming lovely 🥳

Wow 🤩 We couldn’t be happier with the burst of colour we have brought to our lovely town ☺️

Our 83,000 bulbs are waking up and putting on a fantastic show. These small bursts of colour make a big difference to our shared environment, and we hope they lift your spirits as much as they do ours.

🍯 Something Sweet is Buzzing at Houghton Hall Park ! 🐝

We are "stuffed with fluff" to announce our plans for the Anglia in Bloom (AiB) Special Winnie the Pooh 100th Anniversary Award! 🎈

We’re transforming Houghton Hall Park into our very own Mini 100 Aker Wood. To celebrate a century of everyone’s favourite bear, we are:

• 🌲 Planting six pine trees (perfect for a Heffalump trap!).
• 🦉 Installing a real Owl House for our feathered friends.
• 🧸 Bringing a touch of magic with Winnie the Pooh himself!
• 🏡 The much-loved feature bed will be transformed and we even have some ‘Pooh’ dahlias ❤️

Our hard-working bees are already busy in their hives, and are looking particularly active today! 🐝

Their hard work will culminate in a very special treat: a Limited Edition AiB Special Awards Honey, which we can't wait to present to the judges during their visit.

🌼✨ Houghton Regis in Bloom – Summer Display 2026 Revealed! ✨🌼

What better thing to do on a wet, dark, cold night in January than plan our biggest and blooming brilliant floral display for the summer ahead? 🌧️➡️🥰

We’re excited to share a first look at our 2026 summer planting scheme, bringing bold colour and beautiful texture to our hanging baskets and barrier baskets across the town centre! 💜🧡💛

This year’s display will feature a vibrant mix of:

🌿 Lysmachia ‘Goldilocks’
🧡 Begonia ‘Golden Picotee’
💜 Geranium Purple
💗 Surfinia Purple
🤍 Bacopa White

Together, these varieties will create a cascading blend of purple, white and warm coral tones—perfect for brightening our gateways, high streets, and community spaces all summer long.

A huge thank you to our volunteers, supporters, and amazing suppliers who make possible. We can’t wait for you to see the displays come to life!

Introducing our newest composting superstar… Shreddy Mercury! 🌿♻️🎸

You may remember our composting bays update back in September — now we’re taking things up a gear!

Thanks to the brilliant Houghton Regis Town Council grounds team, Shreddy Mercury is helping us shred all our green waste quickly and efficiently, super-charging our composting process at Houghton Hall Park!

Thanks to the team at RT Machinery the Eliet Mega Prof Shredder is a beast 💪🏼

With four composting bays capable of producing 60 cubic metres of high-quality compost, Shreddy Mercury helps us:

🌸 Recycle and reuse all green waste from our blooming brilliant floral displays
🌱 Recycle and reuse all organic material from the kitchen and formal gardens
🌍 Reduce waste, conserve resources, and demonstrate sustainable gardening in action

All part of 🤓

Another great step forward for Houghton Regis in Bloom — keeping our town greener and thriving for everyone to enjoy.
