Every week at Gateway Wheelers, we meet people who never thought cycling would be possible for them.
Children and adults lacking confidence.
Disabled adults and children told sport was not for them.
Stroke survivors who never thought they would cycle again.
Families searching for activities they can do together.
People feeling isolated, anxious or left behind.
Then something changes.
With the right support, encouragement and access to the right accessible cycle, we see incredible moments happen.
First pedal strokes.
First independent laps around the track.
First smiles.
First time joining a group ride.
First time believing “I can do this.”
Last year alone, Gateway Wheelers’ accessible cycles were ridden 2,617 times.
But creating those moments takes support.
That is where you come in.
By running the Great North Run for Gateway Wheelers, you become part of somebody else’s story.
Every mile you run helps us:
🚲 Maintain and repair accessible cycles
🚲 Support learn to ride sessions
🚲 Keep our traffic-free cycling sessions running
🚲 Help new riders access cycling for the very first time
Last year, our amazing runners raised £5,517 for the charity — helping us continue opening doors to cycling for people of all ages and abilities.
To secure your place, there is:
✔️ A £40 registration fee
✔️ A minimum sponsorship target of £275
The Great North Run is already an incredible achievement.
But running knowing you are helping somebody discover freedom, confidence and independence through cycling?
