Gruffalo Crumble or Gruffalo Granny Stew?

Inspired by the new story The Gruffalo’s Granny, the children have been voting to decide which delicious dish to make! 🥕🍎

The winner was Gruffalo Granny Stew! 🎉

The children loved peeling, chopping, cooking and, of course, eating their very own creations! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Voting is a wonderful way to develop early decision-making skills, encourage communication, learn about democracy and understand that everyone's voice matters. 💬❤️

🎃 We’ve also been getting creative by drawing our own pumpkins and decorating them with lots of colourful designs! Every pumpkin is unique, just like our little artists! 🍂🖌️

🍂🌈 What a lovely week at preschool! 🌈🍂

This week, the children have been busy creating their very own colour monsters! 👹🎨 This sparked some wonderful conversations about feelings and emotions, helping the children to recognise, understand and express their feelings while developing their communication skills.

We have also enjoyed some dentist role play! 🦷🪥 This encouraged the children to use their imaginations, build confidence and learn about the importance of looking after their teeth.

Our nature walks have provided lots of opportunities to explore the world around us 🍃🍁, and the children have loved decorating the leaves they collected, supporting their creativity, fine motor skills and curiosity about nature.

Alongside this, we explored orange gelli sensory play! 🍊👐 The children enjoyed touching, squishing and exploring the jelly, stimulating their senses, developing coordination and encouraging them to investigate new textures through hands-on learning.

We are so proud of our little learners and all the wonderful conversations, creativity and discoveries taking place every day! 💛

🍂🍁 Autumn Sensory Fun! 🍁🍂

Our preschool children have enjoyed some lovely walks, collecting natural autumnal treasures along the way to bring back for our sensory play. 🌿
Exploring these different textures, shapes, colours and smells helps develop sensory awareness, fine motor skills, language and curiosity, while encouraging children to connect with and explore the natural world. 🧡

Climbing ropes are so much more than just fun!

Climbing is a fantastic way for children to develop their gross motor skills, building strength, balance, coordination and body awareness.

These bigger movements also help lay the foundations for fine motor skills. Developing strength and control through the arms, shoulders and hands supports children with everyday tasks such as holding and controlling a pencil or pen when they begin to write.

Every climb is a chance to build confidence, develop important physical skills and have lots of fun while learning. ✨

🌱 Why Routine Matters in Preschool 🌱

Our daily routines help children feel safe, secure and ready to learn. From welcoming children in the morning, to snack time, outdoor play, group activities and getting ready to go home, each part of the day provides valuable learning opportunities. 💛

Routines support children to:

🧠 Develop confidence and independence

🗣️ Build communication and language skills

🤝 Learn how to share, take turns and cooperate with others

⏰ Understand expectations and what happens next

💪 Develop self-help skills such as tidying up, washing hands and putting on coats

❤️ Feel secure through familiar and predictable experiences

🎨 Explore, play and learn in a relaxed environment

Routine isn't about every day being exactly the same. It's about giving children a familiar rhythm and sense of security while allowing plenty of opportunities for curiosity, creativity and spontaneous learning.

At preschool, even the everyday moments can be important steps in a child's development. 🌈✨

As we celebrate our final week of the preschool year, we're taking a moment to reflect on all the wonderful memories we've made together. 💛
From first friendships and new discoveries to big smiles, messy play, and growing confidence, it has been a joy to watch each child learn, laugh, and thrive.
To all of our amazing children – thank you for filling our days with curiosity, kindness, and endless smiles. To our wonderful families – thank you for your continued support and for trusting us to be part of your child's early learning journey.
We wish everyone a happy, safe, and fun-filled summer. To those moving on to their next adventure, we're so proud of everything you've achieved and know you'll do amazing things.
