Congratulations to Carl and Catherine Schofield on their wedding day this past weekend! As long-time supporters of Lagan's Foundation, they even included us in their wedding day.
We were so touched to learn that the couple asked guests to donate to Lagan's Foundation in memory of Carl's daughter, Kayleigh. Kayleigh was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and was transferred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital at 3 days old. She underwent multiple tests and then eventually open heart surgery. Whilst at Alder Hey, Lagan's Foundation's founder, Carren, connected Carl and his former partner with another parent who was going through something similar, so they didn't feel so alone. Kayleigh sadly passed at 10 weeks and 2 days old, but left Carl with a lifetime of gratitude towards Alder Hey and the team who looked after her.
Carl has also supported Lagan's Foundation in a number of ways over the last decade. He's done it all, from completing Lagan's Cycle Challenge to skydiving 15,000 feet not once, but twice, to fundraise for Lagan's Foundation. Carl said 'I thought, this is scary, but Kayleigh went through hell for 10 weeks, so I can do anything.'
When he met his new partner Catherine, she also quickly got involved in Lagan's Cycle Challenge. Carl and Catherine generously decided to share a QR code at their wedding for anyone who wanted to give to Lagan's Foundation on their behalf.
Carl shared, 'My favourite part of my wedding day was the moment I saw my little girl and partner walk through the door.'
We are so grateful for your continuous support over the last decade, and honoured to be part of such a special day❤️
