A New Master Mason

On Saturday Bro Gareth became our newest Master Mason after going through his Third Degree Ceremony. Worshipful Master Nick performed the ceremony, assisted by members of the lodge. We were once again graced with a flawless performance from Stuart from Carfax Lodge 7819, this time with the Traditional History. We now look forward to Gareth receiving his Grand Lodge Certificate and, following his excellent conduct through his 3 degrees, to his full participation in future.

50 Years a Royal Arch Mason

On 14th June 1975 Bro Peter Ticehurst became A Companion of the Royal Arch when he was Exalted into Richard Collyer Chapter. Having served his Chapter, Province and Supreme Grand Chapter for 50 years, Peter was awarded a Long Service Certificate at our Convocation on 6th December 2025. The certificate was presented by E. Comp. Christopher Moore PGSupt, who thanked Peter for his unbroken half-century of devotion to the Royal Arch, and gave all present a chance to get to know Peter a little better as a man and a mason....

At our October white table event we welcomed Paul Harman, former Royal Navy engineer and Royal Yatchman. Paul entertained the members of Richard Collyer Lodge, visiting masons from across Sussex and visitors, with snippets and anecdotes from his time serving on HMY Britannia. It was thoroughly entertaining to hear about his personal interactions with the Royal Family and what went on on board when they were ashore. After the presentation, masons their families and guests, 55 in total, enjoyed a round table dinner with conversation and donated £400 in a charity raffle.

Members and partners of the lodge got together on Saturday evening for a meal at the Olive Branch. Thanks to Social Secretary Rick for organising the event. Apologies for the quality of the photograph, but getting this lot to sit still and all look at the camera at once is like herding cats and I didn't have the opportunity to take another, better shot.

Paul Flowerday has gifted the lodge a new Installed Master's Apron with a roundel bearin a Worshipful Master's Jewel and the name and number of the lodge. Paul hopes that Worshipful Master Nick will be proud to wear this apron during his year in office, both at our meetings and on visits to other lodges. It will then be passed to his successor and become a permanent part of the lodge's regalia, with the names of every Master to wear it recorded on the back.
