Northern Distributor Road (NDR) Night-Time Maintenance Works October 2026
Norfolk County Council has advised that essential maintenance works will be taking place on the North Norfolk Distributor Road (NDR) during October 2026. The works are designed to help keep the road network safe and well maintained and will be carried out overnight to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and road users.

When will the closures take place?
The NDR will be closed between 8.00pm and 5.00am, Monday to Friday, on the following sections:
• 5 October 2026 to 10 October 2026
Between the A1067 Fakenham Road Roundabout and the A140 Cromer Road.
• 12 October 2026 to 17 October 2026
Between the A140 Cromer Road and the A1151 Wroxham Road Roundabout.
• 19 October to 23 October 2026
Between the A1151 Wroxham Road and Postwick (A1270).

What work is being carried out?
The programme includes:
• Verge and vegetation cutting
• Gully cleansing
• W**d treatment
• Kerb repairs
• Graffiti removal
• Sign replacement
The works involve several agencies working together to carry out maintenance across the route.

The NDR will remain fully open during daytime hours, with closures only taking place overnight. Norfolk County Council expects that some sections may be completed earlier than scheduled, although the closure periods include contingency time for factors such as poor weather.

Diversions and Travel Information
Diversion routes will be clearly signed and electronic message signs will be used to inform motorists of the closures. Roundabouts will remain open, allowing traffic to cross the NDR where required. Norfolk County Council will also be providing updates through its communications channels and social media platforms.

Norfolk County Council appreciates that these works may cause some temporary inconvenience and thanks residents for their patience while this essential maintenance is completed.

❤️ NEW DEFIBRILLATOR INSTALLED IN HORSFORD ❤️

Horsford Parish Council is pleased to announce that a new defibrillator has been installed at Pledger Pharmacy, providing another potentially life-saving resource for our community.

We would like to thank Pledger Pharmacy for kindly agreeing to host the defibrillator and for supporting this important community initiative.

There are now three defibrillators in Horsford, and all three are registered with The Circuit – the national defibrillator network used by ambulance services.

🚑 What does this mean in an emergency?

When someone calls 999 for a suspected cardiac arrest, the ambulance service can see the location and availability of defibrillators registered on The Circuit. If appropriate, the 999 call handler can direct someone to the nearest available defibrillator and provide the information needed to access it.

Having defibrillators registered on The Circuit means the ambulance service knows where they are and can help get this potentially life-saving equipment to a casualty as quickly as possible.

❤️ In the event of a suspected cardiac arrest, always call 999 first and follow the instructions of the call handler.

Horsford Parish Council is delighted to have been able to provide this additional defibrillator for the village and would once again like to thank Pledger Pharmacy for their support.

The puffin crossing lights on Holt Road are not working. This has been reported.

In accordance with the provisions of Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Norfolk County Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that owing to the disconnection of a redundant supply from a water main the use by vehicles (of any class) of Church Street from its junction with B1149 Holt Road for 50 metres eastwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Horsford will be temporarily prohibited/restricted.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (NTRO11204) affecting the Angela Road from 25 metres west of Saint Paul’s Close for 22 metres westwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Horsford to facilitate excavation and ducting works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 09:30 and 15:30 from 25th to 26th June 2026, but may continue to be closed until the 7th August 2026 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

Holt Road - Highways update.

The gully frame by Oak Grove has been programmed for repair/replacement. The Highway Inspector has been along the length of Holt Road and programmed a large number of gully frames and chamber covers for replacement. They have also sent Section 81 Notices to the relevant Utility companies if the covers are theirs for replacement.

Work to the Northern roundabout , near to Kingfisher Meadow, on Holt Road has been delayed. Updates will be given when there is a new date for the work to be done.

🌈 Street Nameplate Replacement
During the COVID-19 lockdown, several street nameplates in the parish were painted in rainbow colours as a way of showing support and appreciation for key workers. These have been a visible and meaningful symbol for many in our community.
Over time, however, some of these signs – along with others across the parish – have become faded or their posts have deteriorated and now require replacement. The faded signs are also difficult for the emergency services, delivery drivers and visitors to the village to read.
Broadland District Council has asked the Parish Council to consult with residents before any changes are made, particularly given the significance of the rainbow nameplates.
We would therefore really welcome your views:
👉 Should the rainbow nameplates be replaced with standard street signage?
👉 Would you prefer them to be left as they are?
👉 Do you have any other sensible suggestions?
