As the temperature starts rising again, we have been looking for hidden pockets of shade in the grounds.

This is our nature area, not many people know it's there!

(Excuse the dog she was very excited to explore!!)

Caught by complete chance by Claire.... a dragonfly having just emerged from Nymph to Adult near our pond.

Our grounds are a haven for wildlife as well as being the perfect location for outdoor activities!

Much needed new flooring for the downstairs of our Back Tor accommodation block.
After a lot of hard work, it looks amazing and ready for it's first group today!

Hi Vanessa,

I just wanted to pass on my own personal thanks to you and the staff at Hollowford for a brilliant 3 days. Yes, we had glorious weather but that wasn't the main reason why it was such a great trip.... the driving force is simply you and your staff.

From the moment we arrived, we felt the usual comfort, friendliness and family feel of the centre. The children were incredibly lucky to have 6 super instructors who guided and challenged them perfectly. They were also treated to amazing food from your wonderful kitchen team (not to mention the housekeeping staff, whose toil behind the scenes does not go unnoticed)

Then, to have the issue with the delayed coach and have the instructors back and forth on the lane, loading and unloading 60+ cases in and out of the trailer. The management staff giving us safe access to toilets and water. You really went above and beyond.

We returned home late on Friday evening to cheers from parents… ‘they’ve changed’ they said instantly when they saw their children… positive little differences just from 3 days at Hollowford. The impact we always hope our residential has and it was immediately confirmed!!

Our visit always leaves me shattered but oh so very proud and I send this so you can thank everyone involved. We always make sure we express ours and the children's gratitude whilst there, but I felt it necessary to send this so you all know!

My best regards and hope to see you again, next year!

Pretty sure someone was cutting onions in the office when this came through!!
So proud of the whole Team here at Hollowford.

Following the lead from our instructor Hannes, our office team have been for a litter pick around the summit of Mam Tor (not a huge distance). The amount of litter and discarded poo bags was unbelievable and pretty disgusting.

Most disappointingly was one area we cleared on the way up to the summit, already had had more litter dumped when we came back down🤦🏻‍♀️

As a Centre that uses the local area, we ensure that all our groups are properly informed of the importance of taking their litter home.

At the end of March, we bid a fond farewell to our Head of Centres, Mark Williams, who is retiring after 36 years of hard work and dedication to Lindley Educational Trust.

Mark has contributed significantly to Lindley’s success during his time here. He has inspired many children and young people through his work at Hollowford, and at Ashton Youth Club and Pitsmoor Youth Club.

Thank you Mark, we wish you a well-deserved and adventurous retirement!
