There is no “food bank type”.
Food poverty can affect people of any age, in any postcode and from any walk of life.
It may begin with fewer hours at work, a rent rise, illness or one unexpected cost too many.
The people who need food banks are part of our communities and everyday lives.
No judgement. No assumptions. Just practical support, offered with dignity.
If you’re in a position to help, check the BanktheFood app before you shop.

Supporting your local food bank is most powerful when it’s purposeful.

The free BanktheFood app shows you exactly what your local food bank needs right now, meaning they get just what they need for emergency food parcels, helping reduce unnecessary storage and making stock management far more efficient.

It’s also important to always check use-by dates, as food banks can't distribute out-of-date items.

Remember, they often need non-food essentials as well as long-lasting cupboard staples and sometime foods that don’t rely on oven cooking.

Download the free BanktheFood app and it will ping your phone with a real-time list when you’re at a drop-off point, making it easy to donate exactly what’s needed.

And please spread the word! The more people who use BanktheFood, the more thoughtful and timely donations become. 💚

Great to see everyone, and lots of new faces too, at today’s Hooky Food Pantry 💚

It’s been a busy few weeks and supplies are getting low… this is what was left today! (See photo 👀)

Our next pantry takes place on Saturday 16th May and we’ve added a list of urgently needed items to the Bank the Food app, or you can see the photos for details. Red is urgent and yellow we are running low.

We’d really appreciate any donations, which can be dropped off at the Village Shop or 4 Rectory Road. Thank you for your continued support
