The primary purpose of this Page is to showcase events and activities taking place around Honley if you are a member of HBA then you can post about your business and Events on Honley Community. We're keen to support all local organisations and would encourage you to share your events on the “What's Happening in Honley” page to make this THE place to go and find out what's going on in our community. Please do not bombard the site with the same information over & over as we know that, through feedback from others, people find this boring (tedious) and it may even be damaging to your events rather than helpful. If people do not adhere to this request we will have no choice but to limit the number to one event promotion per month. Home to three excellent schools, three churches, a library, a village hall, a post office, over 130 thriving and diverse businesses, its own theatre......and a warm welcome to all. Honley has a keen community spirit with over seventy local societies and clubs to suit all ages including a civic society, a camera club, two choirs, a cricket club and many more. Families are well catered for with three playgrounds, a skate park and recreation ground, toddler groups, Scouts, Rainbows, music and dance classes, a play gym...not to mention the many trees to climb at Honley Woods! A diverse range of shops and boutiques, cafes, pubs, restaurants and businesses co-exist with quaint cobbled streets, wonderful countryside and river walks. From the traditional newsagents, butchers shop and bakery to specialist flooring, contemporary florist, optician, fashion and gifts for young and old, food, pharmacy, health and beauty, finance and trades of all description...Honley has it covered! This is just a taste of what Honley has to offer. Special events are also held throughout the year involving the whole community and attracting visitors from near and far, such as the famous Honley Agricultural Show and the Christmas Street Market

🌳 Still looking for something to keep the kids busy this summer?

There’s still time to get them outdoors with Eden’s Forest Summer Holiday Club, running throughout the school holidays right here in Honley.

Designed for children aged 5–7 and 8–14, the sessions are all about proper outdoor adventures and screen-free fun in the woods. 🌿

Think zip wires, cargo nets, den building, nature trails, woodland crafts, green woodwork, bushcraft, stream splashing and, of course, s’mores around the fire! 🔥

It’s a chance to get muddy, try something new, make friends and enjoy everything the woodland has to offer.

📅 Sessions are still running throughout August
🌱 Separate sessions for ages 5–7 and 8–14
📍 Eden’s Forest, Honley

Wondering what’s happening with the old Dixon & Franks building in Honley? 👀

It’s been empty for the past couple of months, and we know plenty of people in the village have been wondering what might be moving into this familiar High Street building.

But that has changed as HBA member Open Law has purchased the building, and work is already beginning behind the scenes to prepare it for its next chapter.

The team are keeping the full plans under wraps for now, but they’ve promised some exciting developments for Honley are on the way.

It’s always great to see one of our High Street buildings being brought back into use, particularly by a local business.

We’ll share more when we can. For now, what would you like to see happen with the building? 👀

What a first season for Honley Cricket Club’s ladies team!

The team was only formed in April, but after an incredible level of commitment and enthusiasm from everyone involved, they’ve now been crowned league winners and earned promotion to play at the next level.

It’s a brilliant achievement for a brand-new local team and an exciting sign of what’s to come in future seasons.

Congratulations to all the players, coaches and supporters who have helped make the team’s first year such a success. A special mention also goes to local business A E Haywood & Sons, whose sponsorship has supported the team along the way.

We love seeing new opportunities being created within the village and local people coming together to make them thrive.

Well done, Honley Cricket Club Ladies! 👏🏏

🍴 Looking for somewhere for lunch in Honley?

We recently stopped by The Jacobs Well for a working lunch and it’s easy to see why this traditional village pub has been a Honley favourite for so many years.

Amanda has been running The Jacobs Well since 2018, creating a relaxed, welcoming place to enjoy freshly prepared food, a catch-up with friends or simply a drink in the beer garden.

Their lunchtime Early Bird menu is particularly worth knowing about, with a choice of two or three smaller courses – perfect when you fancy a proper pub lunch without going overboard!

👮 Did you know? Honley once had its very own police station.

If you’ve lived in Honley since the 1980s or earlier, you’ll probably remember this building rather differently. You may have even been taken in for a short stay… 👀

The grand stone house next to the entrance to Honley Park is now a beautiful private home, but it was once Honley’s police station.

The village had its own police presence until around 1990, when the building was sold and converted into a home.

One part of its past still remains, though. The original police cell has been retained inside the property, although it’s now said to be a much more pleasant place to spend time than it would have been back then!

Do you remember the station when it was still in use? Perhaps you visited, knew one of the officers, or have a story about someone who spent a little time in the cell.

Happy Yorkshire Day! 💙💛

Today we’re celebrating everything that makes Yorkshire special, and that includes our wonderful village of Honley.

Take a stroll through the village and you’ll spot the Yorkshire flags proudly flying along the high street, helping to mark the occasion and bringing a real sense of community spirit.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who gave up their time to put the flags up. Your hard work helps keep Honley looking its best and makes occasions like Yorkshire Day even more special.
