We are looking for individuals to join our Board of Governors to support us in achieving our vision of creating a world where physically disabled young people take control of their lives and achieve their aspirations.

The Governing Body seeks people with experience in education leadership, including headteachers, secondary education or further education settings, while also valuing leadership, management and quality improvement experience. We welcome individuals from a variety of backgrounds and with lived experience of disability. We believe a broad range of perspectives strengthens our governance and better reflects the communities we serve.

As part of the Alton Arts Festival, Treloar's marked Arts Week by celebrating creativity across the school and college community.

Students explored a range of artistic experiences: from graffiti and recycled art to soundscapes and collaborative projects. The week sparked new interests and skills, with student work now showcased in our Arts Gallery.

As part of our Arts Week, we were delighted to welcome the year 1 music therapy trainees from Guildhall School of Music and Drama to deliver workshops for several school classes. All students engaged in interactive music making and tried many different instruments.

Thank you to the trainees for joining our Arts Week and delivering fantastic workshops!

Before half term, Treloar’s Vocational Training Team hosted its second Staff Celebration Evening, shining a spotlight on colleagues who have achieved professional qualifications while working at Treloar’s.

At Treloar’s, continuous professional development is at the heart of what we do. Staff are encouraged and supported to grow their skills throughout the year through termly training days, comprehensive mandatory training programmes and opportunities to work towards relevant qualifications. In the past year alone, an incredible 700 in-person training sessions were delivered across more than 200 subject areas.

A huge congratulations to everyone recognised at the event for their dedication, hard work and commitment to learning. Your achievements are inspiring and play an important role in helping Treloar’s continue to deliver exceptional support and education.

Recently, Treloar College students took part in a poetry workshop led by Jamie Hale, a disabled poet, playwright, director and multidisciplinary creative.

The workshop was designed to introduce students to a range of poetry forms and approaches, encouraging them to experiment with writing their own poetry in an inclusive and supportive environment.

The workshop provided an inspiring opportunity for students to explore expression and creativity together. Thank you, Jamie!

It's Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)!

But what is digital accessibility? It's about ensuring that all digital platforms, such as websites and applications are accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities.

That is why, during our brand refresh project back in 2023, we worked with a graphic designer and web developers who helped us deliver a website that meets WCAG accessibility criteria.

Since then, we have been working towards spreading awareness of digital accessibility among Treloar's staff, offering accessibility workshops and inviting guest speakers to share their knowledge of how we could deliver the best accessible experience to our students, staff and general public.

Thank you to John Kubale, Creative Concern and Katie Humphries for accompanying us on this path to digital accessibility.
