Welcome Fest A brand-new charity music festival for 2024, set in the beautiful Holme Valley

Launching in 2024, Welcome Fest is a brand-new annual charity music festival based in the Holme Valley in West Yorkshire. The aim of this festival is to bring together the very best grassroots music talent from the North of England to perform across venues in the beautiful Town of Meltham in Holmfirth. Profit generated by the festival will be donated to local food poverty charities and initiatives.

Well, what a brilliant, warm, sweaty day, but so, so worthwhile and heartwarming. The cat is now out of the bag and following the Welcome Fest '24 Offical Launch Event we can announce Welcome Fest will take place on 17-18th August 2024 and will be in aid of The Welcome Centre and Meltham Food Bank. More details to be revealed over the coming months.
Back to the launch event that we hosted The Fourth Fiend Taphouse and a load of massive thanks, props and hugs to:
The Fourth Fiend Taphouse for providing us with the space, love and encouragement and a brilliant raffle prize.

Live Dynamic Sounds for providing the PA and lighting for the event and making the music sound awesome on the day.

And of course our wonderful acts:
Darren Poyzer's Community Music etc we now know so much about Hyde in Cheshire.
Leo Brazil for a brilliant hour of banjo, 12-string and 6-string tunes, and as always a brilliant education on nature.
Mr. Jones - How he kept his long black coat on that long in the heat, we will never know - awesome set
Fishing For Compliments - delightful set of beautiful folk songs and James Leslie Music opening the day with a brilliant mix of pop and rock..

And our brilliant open-mic sets from
Bob and Sue
Nathan Morris
and a debut stand-up set by Claire Curran

So, today is the day of the Welcome Fest '24 Offical Launch Event.

WelcomeFest is the brainchild of Meltham residents Nick Johnson and Sam Hair who have previously worked on Marshfest, a festival that ran for three years in Huddersfield raising over £10,000 for The Welcome Centre. Food Bank and More and provided a stage for local and regional grassroots music talent. Marshfest was also nominated for the E-Festivals small festival of the year in 2019.

During today's launch event, we will be informing you of our plans for the festival, the all-important dates, why we are doing it and how you can get involved.

We are also really pleased to bring to Meltham a fantastic line-up of acts:

James Leslie Music @ 3.30pm
Fishing For Compliments (duo) @ 4.30pm
Mr.Jones @ 6.00pm
Leo Brazil @ 7.30pm
Darren Poyzer's Community Music etc @ 9.00pm

There is also an open mic from 12.30pm - 3.30pm

The launch event is in aid of The Welcome Centre and takes place at The Fourth Fiend Taphouse in Meltham where you can get some of the finest alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages around and it is free entry.

There will be a bucket collection throughout the day and if you don't carry cash you will be able to donate via a QR code.

Oh, and if you like Mexican food https://www.facebook.com/elfuegostreetfood are on hand to serve some fine streetfood.

Our final introduction for Welcome Fest '24 Offical Launch Event taking place tomorrow The Fourth Fiend Taphouse goes to none other than our headliner Darren Poyzer Darren Poyzer's Community Music etc.
Darren amongst being one of the finest singer-songwriters around, is a community singing group leader, special needs music leader and youth music project manager. With a wealth of experience playing at and compering festivals, Darren is rushing down to our event from another gig and will be bringing his usual warmth, charm and a bucket load of brilliant songs and stories to our launch event. Grab a chair or stand near the bar for a brilliant set in the company of Darren and 'keep your heart sunny'.

We have our final two acts to introduce to you today ahead of tomorrow's Welcome Fest '24 Offical Launch Event at The Fourth Fiend Taphouse. First up we have the brilliant Leo Brazil. Those with ears near the local music scene will know all about Leo, one part of the folk tour de force Birds and Beasts and the figurehead of Leo Brazil and hisTwitch, Leo is a fantastic blues and folk songwriter crafting songs about subject matter including politics, animals and human nature. Leo will be on stage at around 7.30 and is not to be missed.
