We are 1st Holmes Chapel Scout Group, providing Scouting for ages 4-14 (Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts).

Our Centenary International trip to Kandersteg International Scout Centre 🇨🇭 and Disneyland Paris 🇫🇷 has come to an end. What an incredible trip we've had!
Celebrating 100 years since Scouting started in Holmes Chapel ⚜️ 33 Scouts & Explorers and 12 Adult Volunteers spent the week camping at the permanent mini Jamboree in Kandersteg, Switzerland with Scouts from all over the world. Activities included hiking, cheesery visits, rafting, swimming, staying overnight in a remote mountain hut, learning about Swiss culture, mountain tubing and high ropes.
We finished off the celebrations with a day at Disneyland Paris 🥳

2 years in the making and we're finally off on our centenary trip to Kandersteg International Scout Centre! 🥳

A huge thank you to Derbyshire Scout Caving Team for hosting one of our cub packs going down Wood Mine at Alderley Edge. Huge fun and cubs learnt so much too. Next week our other pack is going down!

Scouting isn't just about tents and knots. It is about giving young people amazing experiences they'll remember forever, while challenging themselves to do things they perhaps would never otherwise do.

That's why we're so grateful to Staffordshire Gliding Club for hosting 10 of our scouts and 4 adults to experience gliding, including flying the aircraft themselves, and a truly exhilarating winch launch!

An amazing time was had by all, big smiles all round, and we look forward to going back again next year 🤞.

Scouting is fun for adults too!
Volunteering is good for us. We help support young people with their development and learning but there are many opportunities for adults too!
If anyone is interested in helping out, whether it be volunteering with one of our sections (Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs or Scouts) or behind the scenes, there's a role for everyone.

⚜️ Holmes Chapel Scout Group celebrates 100 years! 🎉
This June marks 100 years since 1st Holmes Chapel Scout Group first registered!
Last weekend the whole group came together for a celebratory camp at Queen Charlotte's Wood camp site.
123 young people (28 Scouts, 36 Cubs, 30 Beavers and 29 Squirrels), 20 Adult volunteers, 3 young leaders and multiple parent helpers joined together for a big birthday bash!
The weekend activities included a trip to Manley Mere for the adventure trail where the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts got super muddy! The Scouts also had the opportunity to take part in the aqua park which was great fun!
The Cubs and Scouts camped for 2 nights, Beavers joined us for the Saturday night camping whilst the older Squirrels stayed the night in the bunk house and the younger Squirrels joined us for the Sunday celebrations.
On site activities included archery, tomahawk throwing, shelter building, water games, crafts and cake decorating!

We also had the opportunity to re-present our Group Lead Volunteer, Jo, with the Silver Wolf Award in front of the whole group 👏

We are so incredibly proud of our Group Lead Volunteer, Jo, who last night was awarded the Silver Wolf by the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, at the County Awards Dinner.
"The Silver Wolf is the highest award made by The Scout Association for services of the most exceptional nature. It is an unrestricted gift of the Chief Scout, typically awarded to adult volunteers after at least 30 years of outstanding service".
Jo has volunteered with Scouts for over 37 years, starting in the Midlands, moving to North Wales and then here to Cheshire. She has held the majority of roles available including Beaver leader, Scout leader, District commissioner, training advisor, World Scout Jamboree Unit leader, Cub leader and Group Leader Volunteer.
There is no doubt the difference she had made during her time with Scouting and we hope she has many years still to come with us!

Next year Jo will be invited to the prestigious Windsor Parade in celebration of her award.

Congratulations Jo, incredibly well deserved 👏
