At Hoddesdon Rotary we have an award. The Tommy Knight Award. It was set up in honour of, and with the full support of, one of our former Rotarians, Tommy Knight, who lived to age of 101 and was a Rotarian for over 75 years. It is an award given annually to a Rotarian who it is felt has gone over and above, and really embraced our motto of Service above Self. This year it was deservedly presented to Rotarian John West by Tommys grandson Matthew Clutterbuck. John is seen here with Matthew and our President David White. Well done John.

Lots going on at Hoddesdon recently. We celebrated our 79th Birthday with a great meal and evening at Marconatos in Hoddesdon. We had a great talk as well from local man tony Corrigan who helps organise the Poppy collections for Royal British Legion, the Hoddesdon Remembrance Day celebrations and the Love Hoddesdon Christmas Parade to name just a few.
We were also joined by District Governor Kendall Pitt and our local MP Lewis Cocking MP
Our President David White presided over the festivities and was very proud of all the Club had achieved in its 79 years of existence.

SUMMER EVENING AT THE SPOTLIGHT - our annual Spring Event was delayed this year but non the less was enjoyed by 150 local people invited from the community, with a fun evening last night. Performances with music from duo 'Jen and Tonic' along with a full choir and our own Tony Pomfret playing piano in the interval, the evening went very well, although hot despite the battling air conditioning. Crystal Catering provided the buffet at the interval and all agreed that it was exceptionally good meal! We will repeat next year, returning in May 2027.

As alluded to in an earlier post, we were delighted to welcome to lunch a fellow Rotarian, Grace from one of the Rotary Clubs in Nairobi, Kenya. She was a delight and it was so interesting to hear of the amazing work she and her Club do in Kenya. They assist sometimes with the very basics such as water and schooling. Things we all take so much for Granted. Rotary really does reach the whole world over and does so much good. Rotarians are good people to know ♥️♥️

Hello everyone. It’s been a while since we posted so our apologies. Things have however still been going on. Firstly, we have had our first Presidential continuation. In the 78 years of the Club’s existence this has never happened so our continuing President David White was delighted to accept the honour. Here is David with a guest Rotarian, Grace, on the Continuation day. David looks forward to helping the Club continue its brilliant achievements in the upcoming year.
