North Herts Guild of Singers

North Herts Guild of Singers The North Herts Guild of Singers is an amateur choir performing several times a year in local venues

The North Herts Guild of Singers is one of the best-known and best-supported choral groups in the North Hertfordshire area, with a membership of around 140 singers, a wide repertoire ranging from popular oratorio and opera to smaller, less familiar works, and an ever-growing reputation for high standards of music making. Over the past 50 years the choir has been privileged to work with scores of f

irst-class musicians, conductors and singers. Orchestral accompaniment has been provided by local ensembles such as the North Herts College Orchestra and the Hertfordshire Chamber Orchestra; we have also welcomed groups such as the Mozart Players, Chavri Agreable ensemble and the Ealing Youth Orchestra. Soloists have included winners of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition and singers who have gone on to become household names. With a wealth of talent to call upon, an exceptional musical director and a hard-working committee determined to make sure that standards are maintained, the Guild is confident of going from strength to strength. Please share in this success by joining as a singer or coming to the next concert.

Please join us in trying to save a valuable resource!

Herts County Council is proposing the closure of the Herts Performing Arts Library Service, which is essential to the Guild and many other organisations for music hire. We are taking part in a consultation process to try and change their minds.
If you have any connection with performing arts in Hertfordshire and think the library should be saved, you can make submissions through https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/about-the-council/consultations/libraries-and-archives/performing-arts-library-proposed-withdrawal.aspx or write to your county councillor, whose contact details can be found at https://democracy.hertfordshire.gov.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx?bcr=1
The consultation period ends on May 5th.

Our event announcement seems to have become tangled up with another one: as far as we know, Michael Dawson will not be coming to our performance of the Sea Symphony - although he would be very welcome!
