Professor Jason Arday's death has left us heartbroken.

Jason broke barriers and achieved extraordinary things within academia. For many Black young people, his presence in those spaces mattered.

We cannot talk about his death without also talking about the intense and deeply personal scrutiny he faced in the final weeks of his life.

There must always be room for legitimate questions and accountability. But accountability must not become public humiliation.

And we have to be willing to ask the uncomfortable question:

Are Black academics and public figures afforded the same standards of fairness, institutional protection and humanity as their white counterparts?

We cannot allow that question to disappear simply because the conversation is uncomfortable.

At NHACC, Jason's life strengthens our commitment to supporting young people from African, Caribbean and Mixed Heritage communities to reach the highest levels in their chosen fields.

Representation matters.

But representation isn't enough. We must also ensure that people are supported once they get through the door.

Jason's life reminds us why this work matters. His death reminds us that there is still much work to do.

Rest in peace, Professor Jason Arday. 🖤

Big thanks to the Suffolf Windrush Select Committee and all of the team for welcoming and supporting us to be part of this community led event.
It was a pleasure to have the platform to share the Windrush Advocacy work we are delivering and talk to some potential partners about working together.

Black history lives in the music. It lives in the movement.
Inspired by US Black History Month, we’re starting to share some of the rich roots behind the Swing, Jazz and Lindy Hop that were introduced to us by our partner Aletheia from .i.c — bringing these stories to our Hitchin and wider community as we begin the journey toward our UK Black History Month celebrations in October.
These dances didn’t just appear — they grew from Black communities, creativity and culture. And their story deserves to be told.

A massive thank you to our incredible community! 💛💚🖤❤️
Because of your generosity, we’ve packed and sent 33 large boxes and 10 cartons of water, now picked up by Up&G Shipping and waiting at their yard to be shipped to support St Paul’s Church, Barbary Hall, where they’ll be distributed to the Black River community in Jamaica for hurricane relief.

This is just the first step—we could only afford this much for now. Every donation makes a difference! 🌍🙏
