We care about our neighbourhood and our environment but it is beginning to show signs of neglect and is in need of TLC. Our aim is to become a community-led group to work with our neighbours, with local government and with other agencies and organisations to make the Sketchley Brook corridor through Burbage, and its connecting routes, an area to be proud of. We will start with small improvements and community activities (such as litter picking) in the Bridge Road area, and small projects such as clearing, planting or landscaping the Bridge Road 'garage site'. Our broader long-term vision is to establish a network of accessible paths and routes between Burbage Common and the Ashby Canal, and linking with other areas of Burbage.
* The project will be inclusive of all members of public in the area who want to contribute, with no restrictions.
* We recognise the value of natural habitats and biodiversity requirements in the area, and the need to restore some of the wildlife value which has been lost in recent years. These needs will be balanced with the public amenity value of the area, for example in the provision of picnic or play areas.
* We will make every effort to communicate with and consult all interested parties, and to strive for consensus or acceptable compromise.
* We will strive for mutual respect between the project and all stakeholders.
* This is a community-led project. The community will decide what we want to achieve and how, and will seek support and cooperation from relevant local government departments.
