They're working hard across all competition areas, developing their teamwork, discipline and leadership skills as they prepare to represent the squadron within South and East Midlands Wing Air Cadets.

From subjects like first aid to drill and ceremonial, we’re looking forward to the challenge. 💪

✨ What a Brilliant Opening Evening! ✨

On the 10th of December, we officially kicked off with a packed opening evening involving our amazing staff, cadets, and potential recruits!

The Recruits had the chance to get hands-on with a wide range of activities, from stepping up in leadership exercises and practising essential first aid, to keeping the atmosphere lively with music. we introduced recruits to fieldcraft, while others tested their focus air rifle range.

The flight simulator was a huge hit, giving cadets and recruits a taste of what it’s like to take to the skies. And of course, no opening evening would be complete without drill, showing teamwork, discipline, and squadron pride from the very start.

A massive thank-you to our dedicated cadets for running each activity and to all our staff and recruits for their enthusiasm and positive attitude throughout the night. If this evening is anything to go by, we’re in for an absolutely fantastic year in 2026!!

This weekend, our squadron had the honour of taking part in the Battle of Britain memorial service, paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice of “The Few.” It was a privilege to stand alongside veterans, dignitaries, and members of our community in remembrance.

We were especially proud to welcome the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire and to see the occasion marked by the BBC, ensuring that this important act of remembrance reached an even wider audience.

Our cadets represented the squadron with pride, reflecting the values of respect, service, and commitment that we strive to uphold every day.

🎉 Congratulations Cadet Warrant Officer Hibbitt! 🎉
198 (Hinckley) Squadron is incredibly proud to announce the promotion of FS L Hibbitt to Cadet Warrant Officer (CWO) – the highest rank a cadet can achieve in the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.

Over the past 5+ years, CWO Hibbitt has shown outstanding commitment, leadership, and dedication to the squadron and the wider RAFAC. Throughout his cadet journey, he has amassed an impressive list of qualifications and achievements, including:

✅ Method of Instruction (MOI) Qualification
✅ Silver Leadership Award
✅ Master Cadet Badge
✅ BTEC Level 2 in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community
✅ Bronze Badges in Radio, Cyber, and First Aid

He has also successfully completed:
🟦 Junior & Senior NCO Courses
🟦 Cadet Drill Instructor Course
🟦 And attended numerous camps and events, always representing the squadron with pride and professionalism.

In recognition of his exceptional conduct and leadership, CWO Hibbitt was also honoured to serve as the Mayor’s Cadet for Hinckley & Bosworth – representing the youth of the borough at civic events throughout the year.

CWO Hibbitt is a role model to junior cadets and a respected leader among his peers. This promotion is a true reflection of his hard work, perseverance, and leadership.
