We’ve got spaces available now for young people to join our group aged 4-11 years

🦫 Beavers (ages 6–8) – spaces available
Tuesdays 6:30pm - 7:45pm

🐺 Cubs (ages 8–10½) – spaces available
Wednesdays 6:30pm - 8:00pm

🐿️ Squirrels (ages 4–6)
🚫 Currently full – limited spaces available from April 2026 in our two dreys
Tuesday Red Drey - 4:30 - 5:30
Tuesday Blue Drey - 5:30 - 6:30

We're thinking of everyone affected by the recent announcement from Girlguiding. We just wanted to remind you that Scouting is for everyone. No matter your gender identity, s*xuality, or race - you're welcome here at 1st Sharnford Scout Group and we remain inclusive to all

Girlguiding says the move is in response to the Supreme Court ruling that said s*x meant biological s*x in equality law.

Happy Founders Day 2025

On January 24th 1908, Robert Baden-Powell published the first issue of “Scouting for Boys”. By April of the same year, there were dozens of Boy Scout Groups opening up all over the UK.
Powell became a British national hero in 1900 after his defense of Mafeking during the South African War. His military field handbook “Aids to Scouting” was intended for British troops detailing observation training and tracking but soon became popular with a younger audience. Upon hearing this, Powell developed a civilian handbook emphasizing the importance of morals and good deeds aimed for teens.
Over 100 years since Powell started Scouts, it has now grown to include over over 50 million people!

Scouts Founder’s Day is now observed world-wide on February 22nd, the birth date of Robert Baden-Powell.

To celebrate this Founders Day, choose a Scout Law or Promise and carry out a good deed. Take time to reflect on what being a Scout is and our shared values.

It's great to see a much needed provision for 4-6 year olds flourish and gain great feedback 😄 We love our squirrel drey at 1st Sharnford there are 13 groups within the Hinckley District and only 3 groups currently have squirrels with us being one of them, so how lucky are we to have the volunteers to be able to offer this 🤗😄
