We are delighted to be launching our Leicestershire and Rutland Rural Awards for 2026.
Who is eligible for an award? The RCC Awards are designed to recognise and celebrate any individual, group of people, or organisation that makes a positive contribution to a community in Leicestershire or Rutland (excluding Leicester City). This could include volunteers, small informal community groups, charities, parish and town councils or village halls. Even rural businesses can be nominated if they are doing something positive to benefit the local community.
Nominations are open until 27th March. The Judges will then be shortlisting nominees before our deserving award winners are announced in May. Our winners will be invited to collect their award and celebrate with us at our presentation event on 10th June in Oakham.
Full details can be found attached or on our website at www.ruralcc.org.uk/awards

Warm Hub Halls Support Project Leicestershire & Rutland – Free training opportunity
Is your village hall/community space running a Warm Hub this winter? and would you or one of your volunteers be interested in undertaking a FREE online accredited course to help provide advice to those in or at risk of fuel poverty?
Halls Together has successfully acquired a small grant from National Grid's Community Matters Fund to sponsor up to 8 free places for volunteers to undertake the National Energy Action (NEA) online Energy Awareness 6281-01 (Level 3 Award).
Successful applicants for the online course will have 8 weeks to complete the course including assessment. On average it takes around 20 hours to work through the course in your own time and prepare for the online assessment (an extra 9 hours is recommended for those new to the subject).
Requirements:
Learners must complete their study and assessment within an 8-week time period once registered with the NEA or by the end of March 2026, (whichever is sooner) and be willing to support your local Warm Hub and the residents engaged with the knowledge gained, building local capacity amongst the wider volunteer group to better support those benefitting from the service and to also consider providing initial support to any new and emerging Warm Hub Halls/community spaces and their volunteers and potential beneficiaries.
So, if you, or someone you know would like to be considered for a free place on the NEA online Energy Awareness (Level 3 Award), then please complete all sections of this Halls Together booking form. We will then follow up with all applicants during December.
