Members of our committee recently awarded the winners of the children’s art competition at Downshire Primary School, Hillsborough.
Running the 3rd year in a row alongside our annual exhibition, it continues to remain a strong collaboration and incentive encouraging creativity within our youngest generations.

We were delighted to welcome Noelle Mc Alinden, Co -Chair of Mental Health Arts NI, to speak to us on Wednesday 3 June.
Noelle spoke movingly about how her art practice had helped her immensely to overcome family heartaches. In turn, she gives much of her time to promoting all aspects of the Creative Arts.
The recent Mindset Festival, with a wealth of arts workshops throughout the North, enables new friendships and healing through joining these groups ( eg, The Rock Choir).
Next year’s festival is being planned.

Our exhibition was opened by the lovely Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Mayor Amanda Grehan.

It will remain open until 3pm Monday 25th May in Downshire Primary School, Hillsborough

What a fantastic opening of our 36th annual exhibition this evening at Hillsborough Village Centre!
Thanks to all everyone who attended and to our Mayor Amanda Grehan for formally opening the show.

It doesn’t finish until 3pm Monday, so plenty of time to come along and get a glimpse the wonderful artworks still available to purchase.

Lots of fun was had during our visit to our local castle last week.

We all thoroughly enjoyed a fascinating and informative guided Art Tour at Hillsborough Castle, led by two knowledgeable HRP historians. From poses and composition to historical connections, the session was engaging throughout and sparked plenty of open discussion -something we especially appreciated as artists!

We even had the chance to practice our poses and sword (umbrella!) stances in the gardens and stable yard, which added plenty of laughter to a wonderful afternoon .

Woodward's Watercolours gave a wonderful presentation demonstrating how he creates his beautiful watercolour landscapes, using a loose, expressive style while carefully layering subtle details to capture the essence and atmosphere of the reference scene. Hillsborough Art Society

A lively and engaging presentation from Amanda Watt, with insightful tales from her 30+ years in California, whilst she created a vibrant landscape in front of a large audience of over 40 people!
