It's with a heavy heart that I write this post.
For the last 3 years our forest club has been our favourite days of the week and I know that is true for those who have joined our lovely little community.

We have faced challenges with the local council with regards to us living on our land and rather than continue to fight we made the decision to sell and buy more land up the road. This was a difficult choice as we have poured everything into our home over the last 5 years. We have wonderful neighbours and love our beautiful woodland. This plan provided us with more stability as a family but also came with huge costs. Those expenses have spiralled and as a result the decision was made on Friday not to continue with the purchase. Leaving us homeless.
Over the weekend we have had to find alternative accommodation (for a family of 6) as well as finding homes for our animals.
We've had to reassure 4 children that are leaving the home they have loved for 5 years, that they will have a roof over their heads whilst also trying to find said roof.
We have spoken to all families that attend the group as soon as we were able and all have been understanding.

We feel honoured to have created this wonderful group and are thankful for the friends we have made along the way.
Thank you all for being part of it!

Today we welcomed some new friends into the group, played a new game called 'ghost in the graveyard' which everyone loved! We finished off our willow baskets and began our coiled basket craft.
We made apple juice for a second time, which was a great success! The children asked to use clay and created some really beautiful models.

We will shortly be taking a 2 week break before returning for. An 8 week run up to Solstice. If your child would like to join our friendly home ed community, please get in touch. Parents are welcome to stay!

Last week our wonderful teens were so enthusiastic about fire roasted runner beans and Halloumi that they went off and picked a second basket full! It's great when they try new things and enjoy them 😊

This week in our younger Tuesday group we made apple juice and did some more basket weaving as well as playing games in the woods.
Brute strength was needed for the first press of the apples and we were all a but disappointed with our thimble of juice each, so we re pulped the apples and had another go with much more success!
We now have 3 weeks left before our 2 week holiday, get in touch if you would like to join our friendly community of home ed families!

Yesterday we kept cool in the woods, the mums (and occasional child) got stuck into the basket weaving while the children created great new games with the parachute. Their imaginations ran riot and they displayed great team work and cooperation.
Mark made us the most delicious fireside snack of tomatoes on bread and roasted runner beans which were fantastic! The tomatoes and runner beans were kindly provided by one of the families in our group and gave us a real feeling of community and abundance!

I'm looking forward to basket weaving with the teens today!

The children had great fun playing parachute games and creating their own games today in the woods.
We walked the land looking at the different apple trees and discussing grafting before picking a selection of apples to caramelise over the fire and cut in half to print with. 🍎
