Monday 8th June

Kuwaiti Sunnis

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7

Located at the head of the Persian Gulf between Saudi Arabia and Iraq, the desert state of Kuwait is blessed with an abundance of oil, great material wealth, and strategic access to major shipping lanes. The Kuwaiti people are descendants of nomadic tribes who settled in the area in the 18th century, yet today they are a minority in their own nation. The population is only 40% Kuwaiti, while the majority is composed of a large immigrant population. These migrant workers are often taken advantage of and treated with resentment.

The Kuwaiti government is a constitutional emirate headed by an Emir, who shares power with an elected national assembly. The political environment has recently been shaken by political unrest, protests, accusations of corruption, and many successive changes in the government. Kuwait was invaded by its northern neighbour Iraq in 1990, and in the following year a coalition of nations removed the Iraqi forces and liberated Kuwaitis. The nation has since made a strong economic recovery. Oil is the primary economic driver behind the Kuwaiti economy and composes nearly half of the GDP. Kuwait possesses roughly 7% of the world’s proven oil reserve and produces over 2.6 million barrels every day.

Prayer
• Pray for a recognition of spiritual need amid economic abundance
• Pray for Kuwaitis to have open hearts and minds, and to seek truth.
• Pray for the Emir and rulers to rule with wisdom and justice.

Religion in Pakistan
“If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with everyone.” Romans 12:18

Pakistan was founded as a homeland for the Muslims of South Asia, many of whom feared for their future as a minority in a free, Hindu-majority India. As such, Islam has played a highly significant role in the creation and the development of Pakistan since 1947. The 1973 Constitution declared Pakistan to be an Islamic Republic with Islam as the state religion. Pakistan has the second largest Muslim population globally. Today, most Muslims in Pakistan are Sunni. Some are very moderate, while others are very radical. There are terrorist groups based in Pakistan who are primarily concerned with fighting India over Kashmir, though many will attack Pakistani Christians and Hindus and some of them have attacked members of other Muslim groups such as the minority Shias and Ahmadiyyas.
Religious conflict in Pakistan makes the news. Positive religious cooperation, including inter-faith dialogue, does not. Yet there are Pakistanis from all religious backgrounds who work hard to promote religious peace in Pakistan, often at considerable personal risk. There are scholars and religious leaders who hold conferences together to promote religious tolerance, grass-roots events at which young people from different religious communities meet one another, and student exchanges between different religious schools and universities to encourage students to meet people from other religions and to learn about their beliefs.
Recognising the humanity in all of the people that surround us is a key part of reducing fear and hatred of people who are different from us and this kind of work is much needed in Pakistan. The overwhelming majority of Pakistani Muslims desire peace, not sectarian conflict, and the increasing desire in Pakistan is for progress and development rather than for continued turmoil.
Prayer
• Give thanks for the courageous men and women who run inter-faith dialogue events, and pray that they would be protected from harm.
• Let’s pray for courage and protection for people who want to work together to reduce sectarian hatred and to build a more peaceful Pakistan.
• At a time of global discord between people of different faiths, let’s pray for peace and mutual respect throughout Pakistan.

Saturday 6th June
Wholehearted Seeking: Kuwaiti Shia

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jer 29:13.
The Kuwaiti Shia are a people of profound devotion and deep-seated identity, often rooted in Iranian ancestry and a corporate psyche of ritualised mourning. This is most visible during Ashura, when the community commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain through collective weeping and symbolic rituals. Yet, beneath this fervent religious exercise, many—particularly the youth—are experiencing "religious fatigue" and disillusionment with traditional systems. They are searching for a sense of purpose and a deeper power that they are unable to find within their current faith.

This search aligns with the promise of Jeremiah 29:13, as God is sovereignly meeting those who "seek Him with all their heart." Across the Arab Gulf, many Shia Muslims are reporting supernatural encounters with Jesus, frequently described as a "Man in White" who offers them the very forgiveness and assurance they have sought through pilgrimage and ritual. These seekers are increasingly using discreet digital tools, satellite TV, and social media to explore the Gospel. There is a desperate spiritual hunger for a relationship with a God of love rather than a set of prescribed rules. As they seek truth, they need to encounter the "Prince of Peace" who can transform their mourning into joy.

Prayer
• Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus through dreams and visions to Kuwaiti Shia during their times of intense seeking, especially during holy months.
• Pray for those disillusioned with traditional religion to be drawn to the New Testament, discovering Jesus as the "Living Water" that truly satisfies.
• Pray that influential Shia leaders in Kuwait would encounter Christ and, like Cornelius, lead their entire households to follow the Way of Jesus.

Friday 5th June
A Lamp During Uncertainty: Kuwaiti Shia

Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path. Ps 119:105

In the desert state of Kuwait, the Shia community—comprising 30–40% of the citizen population—exists in a unique paradox of material wealth and emerging physical insecurity. Historically well-integrated compared to their neighbours, many Kuwaiti Shia have contributed significantly to the nation’s economic development through business and commerce. However, the physical "path" for many is becoming clouded. Recent geopolitical instability, including the 2026 drone strikes on critical infrastructure, has left many families feeling vulnerable. Despite a high standard of living, there is a growing recognition of spiritual emptiness as economic abundance fails to satisfy the soul.

For the Kuwaiti Shia, the promise of Psalm 119:105—that God's Word is a lamp for their feet—is a critical spiritual need. While they revere the Quran and follow the teachings of religious guides (marjaa), many remain in a "spiritual shadow," seeking intercession from holy men and saints rather than the direct light of Christ. As regional tensions rise and traditional foundations show cracks, there is an urgent need for the Injil (New Testament) to become the true guide for their lives. They need to discover that Jesus is not just a prophet to be admired, but the "Sure Foundation" that no regional conflict or economic shift can destroy.

Prayer
• Pray that in the face of regional instability, Kuwaiti Shia would find their eternal security in Jesus, the only "Sure Foundation".
• Ask that the spiritual shroud of ritual duty would be lifted, allowing them to see the Word of God as a living lamp that offers true peace.
• Pray that the small number of secret believers in Kuwait would be empowered to share the "Light of the World" with their families despite the risk of social ostracization.

Thursday 4th June
A Kairos Moment: Kurmanji Kurds.

…There before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. Rev 7:9

Revelation 7:9 promises that a multitude from every language and tribe will stand before the Lamb, this multitude includes the approx. 17 million Northern Kurds. Although scattered across 28 countries—from the Middle East to the global diaspora—the Kurmanji are united by a proud heritage and the Kurmanji language. Many are currently experiencing a "Kairos moment" of spiritual transition; disillusioned by the atrocities committed by radical groups in the name of Islam, they are becoming increasingly open to the Gospel message.

While the church in Northern Iraq has seen spectacular progress, believers in Turkey and Iran remain a faithful few who must often meet in secret house churches to avoid intense persecution. God is pioneering this breakthrough through supernatural dreams and visions of the "Man in White," drawing many to seek Christ discreetly. As they navigate the "badal" (revenge) cycle of their honour-shame culture, they desperately need a revelation of the Saviour who took their shame upon Himself to make them "oaks of righteousness". Their inclusion in the heavenly multitude will finally bring complete victory and an eternal home to a people who have long felt abandoned by the nations of the earth.

Prayer
• Ask the Lord to send profound dreams and visions of the risen Christ to Northern Kurdish tribal elders and political leaders.
• Pray for the protection and supernatural boldness of the small number of Kurdish believers, asking that they would be filled with courage to share their faith despite the risk of public disgrace.
• Pray that Kurdish diaspora believers in Europe and the USA would be mobilised and equipped to return as missionaries to the unengaged Kurmanji populations in the Middle East.

Wednesday 3rd June
Declare His Glory: Kurmanji Kurds.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvellous deeds among all peoples.
Ps 96:3

The Northern Kurds (Kurmanji) inhabit the rugged borderlands of Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Syria. For centuries, they have survived in harsh mountain climates and endured systemic oppression, with thousands of villages destroyed and populations displaced by military conflict. They face water scarcity and inadequate healthcare, battling diseases like tuberculosis in impoverished rural communities where agriculture has changed little since the Middle Ages. Despite this difficult time Psalm 96:3 mandates the Church to "declare his glory among the nations," yet the Kurmanji remain one of the largest unengaged frontier people groups in the world.

Whilst over 93% of Kurmanji Kurds are Muslim, many practice a form of Islam intermingled with folk beliefs involving jinn, charms, and animal worship. Their fierce independence and a deep-seated "spiritual shroud" of religious tradition often act as walls against the Gospel. Currently, there are no known groups of believers regularly worshipping in Northern Kurdish dialects within Turkey, leaving millions without a culturally relevant witness. For His glory to be known, the Word must pe*****te these remote valleys, replacing the trauma of war with the "marvellous deeds" of a Saviour who offers a sure foundation that cannot be destroyed.

Prayer
• Ask the Lord to send loving and dedicated ambassadors for Christ to the unreached Kurmanji communities in the mountains of Turkey and Iran.
• Pray for the completion and wide distribution of the Bible in all Northern Kurdish dialects, that the Kurmanji may encounter God's Word in their heart language.
• Pray that Kurmanji families would find true security and identity in Jesus replacing generational bitterness with His peace.

Tuesday 2nd June
A Cry for Revival: Kuala Lumpur

Lord, I have heard of your fame;
I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord.
Repeat them in our day,
in our time make them known;
in wrath remember mercy.
Hab 3:2

Habakkuk’s prayer, “repeat [your deeds] in our day”—resonates deeply in a city like Kuala Lumpur, which stands at the crossroads of Southeast Asia. While the city is a centre for global trade and modern innovation, its diverse population of over 8 million in the greater metropolitan area is caught in a complex web of traditionalism and materialism. Historically, the region has seen movements of God among other ethnic groups, but the Malay majority remains largely unengaged. In this “time of our day,” we stand in awe of God’s ability to use the city’s diversity as a gateway for the Gospel.

Spiritually, the city is a melting pot where Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism dominate, leaving millions dying without a Saviour. Many residents live in a cycle of religious performance, never knowing the assurance of God’s love or the freedom found in Christ. There is an urgent need for God to make known His fame through supernatural encounters, as traditional forms of evangelism are often restricted. As the city continues to sink under environmental pressures and the weight of spiritual apathy, the cry for mercy becomes paramount. We look for a move of the Spirit that will transform this “muddy confluence” into a city of refuge, renewal, and revival for the entire region.

Prayer
• Supernatural Encounters: Ask the Lord to repeat His miraculous deeds by revealing Jesus through dreams and visions to Malay Muslims who have no other access to a Christian witness.
• Life from Death: Pray that the Holy Spirit would bring “dead sinners to life” across the city, drawing people away from idols and religious rituals toward the Living Water of Christ.
• A Gateway for the Gospel: Pray that Kuala Lumpur would become a strategic hub where the knowledge of the glory of God fills the city “as the waters cover the sea,” rippling out to all of Southeast Asia.

Monday 1st June

Malaysia’s Heart: Kuala Lumpur

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 1 Tim 2:1-2.

Kuala Lumpur, meaning “muddy confluence,” serves as the political and economic heart of Malaysia. As the nation’s capital, it is a city of stark contrasts where the world’s second-tallest building, Merdeka 118, towers over golden domes and ancient minarets. Within this urban mosaic, Malays, Chinese, and Indians coexist, yet the spiritual landscape is defined by a government that increasingly tightens its grip on religious expression. In the context of 1 Timothy 2:1-2, there is a profound need to pray for the “kings and all those in authority” in this city. Currently, the Malaysian constitution strictly defines being Malay as being Muslim, and laws prohibit the proselytization of Malays, making the public practice of following Jesus a potential act of betrayal against both family and state.

For the small Christian minority (approximately 3–6%), living a “quiet and peaceable life” requires immense courage and wisdom. Many fellowships must meet discreetly in homes and apartments to avoid legal repercussions. While the city is outwardly prosperous, it remains spiritually hungry, with 90% of its population still waiting to hear the Gospel. The physical needs of the city—including severe traffic congestion, pollution, and the plight of vulnerable migrant workers—call for just and compassionate governance that reflects Kingdom values.

Prayer
• Wisdom for Authority: Pray that the Sultan and city leaders would be guided by divine wisdom and discernment, creating an atmosphere of true religious freedom where the Gospel can be shared without fear.
• Boldness for Believers: Ask that followers of Jesus in Kuala Lumpur would be filled with the Holy Spirit to boldly disciple others and live out their faith with integrity despite restrictive laws.
• Removal of Legal Barriers: Pray for the annulment of decrees that prevent Malays from choosing to follow Jesus, allowing every person in the city to encounter the “Sent One” (Al Masih).

Saturday 30th May
Devotion
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Acts 2:42-47
As the Holy Spirit was poured out at Pentecost there were a number of outcomes.
Firstly, there was a change in lifestyle. These new disciples were passionate in their desire to learn more of this Jesus fellow that they had put their trust in. There was a desire to spend time with other like-minded individuals as they did this which played out as obedience to Jesus’ command to break bread together and to pray.

Secondly, there were consequences to this devotion. There was a sense of awe at the miracles God performed in their midst, there was a sharing of property and wealth such that no-one was in need, there was a sense of community which was attractive to those outside, which resulted in the growth of the community.

It is exciting to read about these stories, but is sometimes easy to approach them with a “that was then, this is now” attitude. Excitingly, this does not need to be the case. Within Frontiers UK we have a cohort of young adults who have felt called to serve abroad in some capacity at some point. It has been a joy to see this cohort become a community defined by their desire to follow Jesus, spend time with each other, and be obedient in breaking bread and prayer.

One aspect of this community is the forthcoming “Awaken 2026” weekend in July which will be devoted to Jesus, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and nonstop prayer and worship specifically to hold the Muslim World before Jesus throne. This gathering has grown over the last few years, and we have felt a challenge to grow again this year. This means widening the invitation beyond Frontiers’ cohort of young adults to include those from beyond, inviting them into this growing fellowship of devoted, obedient followers ready to go to the nations.

If you would like more information about Awaken 26, or would like to support us financially follow this link: awakendonate. If you would like to attend Awaken ‘26, please contact [email protected] for more information.
Prayer
• Pray that as those attending explore Jesus’ commands together, they would know this Acts 2 devotion and fellowship and would see growth in those heeding Jesus’ call to go.
• Pray that new communities of believer around the Muslim world would also mirror this Acts 2 community, growing in devotion and fellowship together.

Friday 29th May
Repent and be baptised
When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’

Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off – for all whom the Lord our God will call.’

With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, ‘Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.’ Those who accepted his message were baptised, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Acts 2:37-41

According to a variety of sources, Jerusalem was probably host to a festival population of approximately 250,000 people at Pentecost.

The crowds, with Peter and the disciples at the epicentre, had experienced an astonishing power encounter that turned the worldview of many upside down.
As at Pentecost men and women across the Muslim world are meeting Jesus, both in supernatural encounters and in the everyday witness of believers loving and serving them. Like at Pentecost some will scorn Jesus as he comes close, however others will respond with, “what shall we do?”

Peter’s response was to call those responding to “repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins” whilst promising the gift of the Holy Spirit too.

Baptism is a relinquishing of our worldly identity. For western Chrisitan background believers our cultural identities are tied pretty closely to our Christian identities and so “repenting” and being baptised does not come with huge cultural costs. For many Muslim background followers of Jesus even the decision to follow Jesus comes with huge cultural questions. Will I be welcomed in my family? Will I lose my kids/job/house/life? Where will I be buried? When a Muslim background believer decides to get baptised, whether in a public ceremony of immersion in water or a quiet/secret moment in a bath at someone’s home, it is a momentous decision, amounting to a change in identity and allegiance. It is a decision that can and will change how they are seen by their families, communities, and in many cases their states legal systems.

Prayer
• Pray for the many Muslims who, having met Jesus, are now asking, “Brothers, what shall we do?”.
• Pray for Muslim followers of Jesus as they wrestle with the call to, and consequences of, being baptised.
• Pray for Muslim background believers who have been baptised. Pray that their faith will be deepened and that they will have endurance as they face opposition or persecution.
