Day 21 ⭐️

In May 2025 Lisa, Mark and Rich ran the Milton Keynes half marathon for their dear friend Kirsty who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2021.

Through their fundraising efforts they managed to raise over £4,285 for Brainstorm, an incredible achievement!

And it’s even better to see the smiles on their faces after the run.

Day 20 ⭐️

‘20 Years is the average battlers of brain cancer lose from their life’

The aim of our research is to help reduce that number and give patients a better life, more time with their family with the goal of curing this awful disease.

Even though we have a long way to go we are proud that our efforts are doing just that every day. We are able to offer better treatments as well as keep pushing forward with research.

Day 18 ⭐️

Myth: Brain tumours only affect older people.
Fact: Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK.

Despite this, they remain historically underfunded compared to many other cancers.

Raising awareness is a crucial step in changing that. The more people understand the reality of brain tumours, the more we can push for better funding, better research and better outcomes for patients.

Help us spread awareness by sharing this post 💛

Day 15 ⭐️

Why does Brain Tumour Awareness Month matter?

Because behind every statistic is a person, a family and a life that changed overnight.

For many people, a brain tumour diagnosis comes without warning. One day everything feels normal the next, life looks completely different.

Throughout this month, we’re sharing the stories of the people behind Brainstorm: the patients, families, fundraisers and supporters who continue to drive awareness and push for progress.

By talking about brain tumours, sharing stories and supporting research, we help ensure that this disease receives the attention, understanding and funding it urgently needs.

Awareness leads to action.

Action leads to change.

Thank you for helping us keep the conversation going 💛

Day 14 ⭐️

March is Brain Tumour Awareness Month a time to shine a light on a disease that is still widely underfunded and misunderstood.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK, yet research into treatments still receives only a small proportion of national cancer research funding.

At Brainstorm, we’re working to change that.

Through the support of our community, we’ve been able to fund clinical trials, support groundbreaking research and provide vital equipment to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Every fundraiser, every donation and every story shared helps push research forward and bring hope to patients and families facing a brain tumour diagnosis.
Thank you for being part of this movement 💛

Day 13 ⭐️

Over the past two years, has proudly sponsored Brainstorm and we are incredibly grateful for their continued support.

Because of their commitment, we’ve been able to contribute to clinical trials that are moving vital brain tumour research forward and bringing new hope to patients and families.

Partnerships like this don’t just fund research.
They create momentum.
They create possibility.

Thank you Severn Healthcare for standing with us. Your support is helping us move closer to a future with better treatment options and brighter outcomes.

Day 12 ⭐️

Eloïse and her dad Andrew took on an incredible challenge for Brainstorm walking 106 miles in just 5 days along the Cornish Coastal Path from Padstow to Penzance.

They called it “Footstorm.”

Their motivation is deeply personal. Eloïse’s cousin Polly was diagnosed with a grade 2 oligodendroglioma at just 19 years old. Since then, she has undergone multiple awake brain surgeries, radiotherapy and is now undergoing chemotherapy.

Polly’s consultant at the John Radcliffe Hospital is also one of the neurosurgeons behind Brainstorm helping drive research into both cancerous and non-cancerous brain tumours.

Wanting to support that work, Eloïse and Andrew set themselves an enormous challenge: walking over 21 miles a day across some of the toughest coastal terrain in the UK.

Stories like this remind us how powerful community support can be. When people take on challenges like Footstorm, they help fund the research and progress that patients like Polly need.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who pushes themselves for Brainstorm 💛

Day 9 ⭐️

In January 2023, Robert Seward’s life changed in an instant.

A 38-year-old father of three from Marlow, Robert collapsed at home after returning from the school run. What followed was a seizure that led to an emergency trip to the John Radcliffe Hospital, where scans revealed he had a brain tumour.

In the months that followed, Robert faced surgery, uncertainty and life-changing decisions. But through it all, he chose to focus on something he could control — his mindset and his health.

Before surgery, Robert committed himself to getting as fit as possible, believing that exercise could help him face the challenges of treatment and recovery.

When surgery came in March, doctors were able to remove nearly 80% of the tumour an incredible result that gave Robert renewed motivation.
Not long after, Robert turned that determination into action by cycling to Paris to raise funds for Brainstorm and help support brain tumour research.
His message to others facing difficult diagnoses is simple: focus on what you can control, look after your body and mind and never underestimate the power of resilience.

Stories like Robert’s remind us why awareness, research and support matter so much.

Day 8 ⭐️

In 2023, thanks to the incredible support of our fundraisers and donors, Brainstorm was able to contribute £100,000 to the COMBAT-GB trial.

Glioblastoma is the most common and aggressive type of brain tumour. In England, around 32 out of every 100 primary brain tumours diagnosed between 1995 and 2017 were glioblastomas which is why funding research and clinical trials is so critical.

This £100,000 contribution represents years of fundraising, generosity and determination from our community.

To everyone who has supported Brainstorm along the way thank you.

Milestones like this are only possible because of you, and they bring us one step closer to better treatments and brighter outcomes for future patients.

Day 7 ⭐️

Not long after Brainstorm was founded, we were able to fund and donate a new brain imaging scanner to the John Radcliffe Hospital thanks to generous donations and fundraisers.

Through donations and fundraising, we were able to provide a BK5000 Advanced Ultrasound Scanner, helping surgeons diagnose and treat brain tumours with greater precision.

This technology allows surgeons to see detailed images of the brain and tumour margins during surgery, helping them remove as much of the tumour as possible while protecting healthy brain tissue.

Put simply, it helps surgeons make better decisions, improves outcomes for patients and saves lives.

Moments like this are only possible because of the community behind Brainstorm 💛
