This day marks history in High Wycombe Alhamdulillah!
Various leaders of the High Wycombe sunni/barelwi community came together for the sake of our youth.
After spending the last 3 years traveling to over 20+ countries and meeting scholarship from different backgrounds, I have had several awakening moments in my pursuit of 'what is the right approach' and realised that we are not enemies of each other.
In fact we are 99% the same with certain areas of differing which should never stop us from working together on common goals, or being close friends with each other and supporting each other for goodness.
We live in a day and age where our youth don't care about Islam, they are lost and need guidance, yet the only thing we can think of is how we can one up each other in a debate or prove that we are correct, when in reality, these debates are going nowhere and nobody except a fringe group of people even care about.
Its time to build bridges and work together.
I've seen enough of this world to understand that my opinions, views and convictions are best attempts at me trying to follow the truth. And on this journey, one thing is certain, and that is that I am flawed, I make mistakes and I can be corrected.
The things I was so hell bent on 15 years a go, I have matured and have had to let go of. Especially when it comes to the context of my own community in High Wycombe which I care about so much. This is the town I was born and raised in, and majority of my facebook connections are from High Wycombe, hence why I am posting this here.
And this is why we built Wycombe Muslim Collective, as a response to a problem our community has faced for several years.
A space where men in this community, from different backgrounds, different masajid, different schools of thought can build genuine brotherhood. Where we stop waiting for institutions to fix what only relationships can repair. Where we commit to our young people not through words, but through the example of what it looks like when Muslim men actually stand together.
There will be critics. There always are. But I ask the people of High Wycombe, the people I know, the people who know me, to consider this honestly:
What future are we building if we stay divided?
Disunity has destroyed us and has left our young people lost and wondering.
I ask Allah to help us collectively bring about change and allow us to work together for the long term goodness in our town.
Wallahi I love all my brothers sincerely for Allahs sake.
And I pray we can see a future where we can work together to help save the next generation, because right now we have failed them...
