Little Heartbeats - PPROM Support and Awareness

Little Heartbeats - PPROM Support and Awareness PPROM (Preterm Prelabour Rupture of the Membranes) is a condition where a woman’s waters break before 37 weeks of pregnancy, prior to labour beginning.
(382)

Little Heartbeats aims to raise awareness of PPROM (when your waters break before 37 weeks of pregnancy), to support women and their families through PPROM and beyond, to improve care and guidance, and to support PPROM-related research. Sometimes the baby is born soon afterwards, but frequently it is possible to continue the pregnancy for days, weeks, or even months after the membranes have

ruptured. Not enough is known in the medical profession about this condition, and few members of the general public have heard of it until it happens to them, but it is thought to occur in 3% of pregnancies and is implicated in 40% or preterm births. Little Heartbeats is seeking:

• To raise awareness and understanding of PPROM among the general public and medical professionals;

• To support and provide accurate information to women experiencing PPROM regardless of outcome;

• To advocate for high-quality, consistent, compassionate care and management of PPROM, and to campaign to improve such care;

• To raise funds for PPROM-related research and to contribute to such research projects. In memory of Sinead Speakman, born sleeping, and all the babies who lived but a short time, or who were loved but did not live, as a result of PPROM.

Megan is raising us some FUNDS for us at Little Heartbeats non profit and Special Care Baby Unit Raigmore hospital.

This is her story...

In January 2025 she was 27 weeks pregnant and her waters broke. Knows as “PPROM” ( preterm prelabour rupture of membranes).

Megan was in labour and eventually delivered her baby at 32 weeks in her pregnancy, where he stayed in special care for a month.

In hospital for three months. During this time many things went wrong, there where many rocky moments and Megan says that truly she does not believe either her or my son would be alive to tell the tale if it was NOT for the charitable cause Little Heartbeats, who are specifically set up to help with women and their families who are dealing with PPROM and sadly some babies have died due to the complications of this condition.

Megan, family and friends are also raising funds towards the NICU UNIT, As the INCREDIBLE care the neonatal nurses provided to our baby and her family in Raigmore hospital. They truly carried our family through so much.

To show our appreciated I have decided to do some fundraising! Megan and her lovely friend Dora are going to embark on an overnight hike and complete size Munro’s (mountains) in may this year. Megan is also going to donate my wedding dress to be made into smaller outfits for babies who sadly pass away in SCBU at Raigmore hospital which will be done by a very kind lady from my work!

Depending on the amount raised I’m hoping to donate 70% to Little Heartbeats and 30% to SCBU with my wedding dress!

Any donation at all if you can would be greatly appreciated or even a share so this reaches a larger audience! Thankyou so much the Geddes’s.

Megan and her friend have done their walk, thank you so much, it be amazing if we can get this higher and make a massive difference to future pregnant mums and their families who are impacted by this condition in pregnancy.

Every few pounds help,

Iʼm raising money to Littleheartbeats charity and Special Care Baby Unit Raigmore hospital. . Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

Found today difficult, listening to the news about how they can improve care for pregnant women who endure miscarriage,
Yes we knew this, and we have gone out of our way to help prevent miscarriage when women are threatening this, its a shame that no one has invited us on when our research come on
Good Morning Britain Suzanna Reid, her researcher did not even have the decency to response, we got a few seconds on BBC Liverpool but we needed to be on the red seats BBC Breakfast the only places we have ever been on and are thankful for the airtime is GB News and TalkTVUK its a shame our national broadcaster the BBC could not do more to listen to how many women we have helped to bring home their babies and these women who lost their waters under 24 weeks did not end up losing their babies as we helped them through their pregnancies
we know some women do not, and we will never forget our babies
we also helped women who have had to deal with a new pregnancy after pprom loss, and this has also made a difference, it really is not hard, they need to invest in women's health and understand that dipsticks do not always detect a woman's UTI yet the NICE guidelines change on this, we think this is a massive error, maybe one day they will listen! maybe one day they recognised our work! tired of saying one day thought,
The promise I made to my baby Sinead but it is so hard at times, its very hard,
