***TRAINING OPPORTUNITY***
We are pleased to announce that we have been given funding to train more people to lead bike rides locally.

We intend to continue the Hexham Middle School/QEHS bike bus, after a successful pilot last autumn, and we'd like to train a few more leaders to support the scheme. However, if you join us for a training day, you'll be qualified to lead any rides up to 60 miles, and there is no obligation to commit to the bike bus.

The day-long training is offered by British cycling and will take place on a date as yet to be decided over the next few weeks.

Please contact me, on [email protected], or through facebook, if you're interested.

The first Bike Bus went swimmingly. Thanks again to all who've supported. We hope to pick it up again in the spring.

***Finally, the Hexham Bike Bus is here*** The weather is due to be better tomorrow and we, a small team of dedicated volunteers, including Active Travel Tynedale CIC Rob Aubrook, Deborah Aubrook, and the Dixon-Greenhill combo. Many thanks to the staff of Hexham Middle School and for your support.

We'll be leaving from near Mole country stores on the A695 (East Hexham) at about 8am and processing along the A695 picking up children as we go. We'll cover Battle hill, pass the Fox pub and pass Hencotes, Portland terrace, and finally turn into Hellpool Lane for the last section. We'll take Tynedale Terrace instead of clogging Whetstone Bridge road.

We'll have music, hi-viz jackets and lights, so you can't miss us. This is a pilot, so it'll only happen once, and driver consideration will be key to our success. We applaud all the young people and their families who are keen to take part in this endeavour and we're really hoping they have a positive experience.

A great day last week with the temporary pump track where throngs of kids came and enjoyed themselves. We had a special slot to encourage girls' participation and they duly showed up and did the circuit like troopers. Thanks again to Active Travel Tynedale CIC for organizing, Tyne Valley Ices for generous sponsorship and to all those who chipped in. We are still a little bit short so if you have any cash to spare, here's the link for donations: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/pop-up-pump-track-crowdfunder
