Congratulations to our newly promoted Acting Pilot Officer McNulty.
Having been a Civilian Instructor with 224 (Hexham) Air Cadets squadron for the last 3 years, after transfering from 2137 Lymm Sqn, RAF Air Cadets, due to moving north to Durham Northumberland Wing Air Cadets (DNW), Mr McNulty has now made the move into uniform.
This is the end of a year long 5 stage process, comprising:
- An interview with the Wing Development Officer.
- A weekend of training at our parent unit, RAF Boulmer.
- Passing a 3 person Wing Mock Board interview.
- Passing the actual Wing Board with the DNW Wing Commander.
- Passing the North Region - Royal Air Force Air Cadets Board with the North Region Group Captain, and 2 other Wing Commanders.
Next up, APO McNulty needs to pass an assessment by one of the Wing Drill Instructors, to confirm his drill is up to standard, and then pass a week long officer training course at RAF Cranwell, Headquarters of the RAF. After this, his rank will be made substantive as a Pilot Officer.
