Meet Groot 🖤

Groot has been through more than most dogs ever should. He was signed over to us by his previous owner when he became very poorly, suffering from pleural effusion of unknown origin. He underwent extensive treatment, including scans and a chest drain, and we’re so happy to say that after a long road to recovery, he is now 100% healthy and ready to find the loving home he truly deserves.

Groot is looking for an adult-only home where he can be the only pet. He can be very hit and miss with other dogs, so a pet-free home is essential.

He has completely stolen the hearts of our volunteers. In fact, two of them take him home every weekend to give him a break from kennel life. He’s absolutely thrived with them, and while they adore having him, sadly it’s not a long-term option.

Coming back into kennels after his weekends away is becoming harder for Groot. He’s ready for a place to call home, whether that’s a long-term foster or, even better, his forever family.

Groot is an incredibly affectionate boy who loves nothing more than cuddles with his favourite people. He also enjoys a good game of fetch and is muzzle trained, making him easy to manage when needed. Once he trusts you, he’s a loyal, loving companion who just wants to be by your side.

After everything he’s overcome, Groot deserves a second chance with someone who will love him for the rest of his life. Could that be you?

💔 BELLA IS COMING BACK TO US 💔

Some of you may remember Bella, who originally came into our care after her owner was sadly diagnosed with cancer.

Bella is now around 7–8 years old and, after being adopted last year, she is sadly being returned as her current owners feel that she isn’t the right fit for them.

This one really breaks our hearts — especially knowing how much Bella struggled when she was previously in kennels. 💔

We want to be completely honest about Bella. She isn’t the easiest girl in the world, and she can definitely have a little bit of a “my way or the highway” attitude! 👀

But underneath that big personality is a very affectionate, playful and people-focused girl who absolutely loves being close to her humans.

🐾 Bella’s ideal home:
• Adult-only
• No other pets
• An experienced owner who understands terrier behaviour
• Someone who is around for the majority of the time
• Someone willing to put the time and work into helping her succeed
• A home where training, consistency and boundaries are part of everyday life
• Someone who is open to working alongside a professional behaviourist if needed

Bella is reactive on walks and cannot live with other animals, so she needs an experienced home that understands her needs and is prepared to manage them responsibly.

She doesn’t need someone to “fix” her. ❤️‍🩹

She needs someone who is willing to understand her, work with her, give her structure and help her feel secure.

We genuinely believe that, with the right person and the right support, Bella could thrive.

❤️‍🩹 Bella is looking for either a foster or adoptive home.

She may not be the easiest girl, but she certainly has plenty of personality, and there is so much to love about her. 🥹

Meet Marshall, a handsome 2-year-old Collie mix who is searching for a patient, experienced home where he can truly flourish.

Marshall needs an owner who can provide firm, fair and consistent boundaries, along with the confidence and understanding to guide him through situations he finds difficult. He can react out of fear and anxiety when he feels overwhelmed, so he needs someone who can recognise his body language, support him, and help him feel safe.

The right person will see just how much potential Marshall has. Once he has a routine, builds trust with his handler, and knows what’s expected of him, he is a completely different dog. He’s affectionate, playful, incredibly loyal, loves a good fuss, and enjoys getting out for walks with his favourite person.

🚨 URGENT REHOMING APPEAL — LOKI NEEDS A SECOND CHANCE 🚨

💔 Loki’s time is sadly running out in the pound, and he desperately needs somewhere to go ASAP.

Loki is a 3-year-old Bulldog/Staffy mix who is described as a lovely, excitable and very loveable boy. ❤️ He is great with people and really deserves the chance to leave the pound and experience a safe, loving home.

Because Loki has very little history and still needs further assessment, we are looking for:

🏡 A child-free home
🐾 Ideally pet-free, or a home where he can be fully and securely separated from other animals
❤️ Someone patient and committed to giving Loki the time and support he needs while he settles and continues to be assessed.

His behaviour around other animals is still being tested, so we cannot safely say how he will be with dogs, cats or other pets at this stage.

⚠️ This is URGENT. Loki’s time is up, and without somewhere safe to go, his future is sadly at serious risk.

*SPECIAL APPEAL - FOSTER NEEDED FOR LOUIS*

Louis came to us via a vets practice a few months ago after being found as a stray. He was a little wobbly on his back legs but X-rays showed no broken bones so was put on rest to see whether there would be any improvement.

He stole our hearts right away - what a loving, trusting soul he is. Gorgeous in every way, we knew he’d find a home although a little ‘wobbly’ due to his amazing nature and friendliness with everyone and other animals.

After a while, we noticed Louis was hiding away, and not really eating (which is NOT like him!) so he was taken to our vets. Sadly he became to deteriorate and became so unwell we thought he may need to be put to sleep if there wasn’t improvement.

He had multiple blood tests done and sadly one of the tests came back to say he was not only positive for FIV but also FIP which is commonly fatal in cats. He was started on the anti-viral FIP medication and after over 80 days on this he has shown such amazing improvement and has pretty much gone back to the cat he was - a little wobbly but an absolute lovebug!

Whilst unwell, Louis became completely incontinent and we were having to bathe him every day. Luckily, he is nearly completely all the way in terms of being back to normal and is urinating in his litter tray but we occasionally find some p**p in his bed. We’re unsure whether this is because he can’t control it, or whether this will get better as still recovers from being so poorly as he wasn’t incontinent beforehand.

Therefore, he needs a foster who will be ok with the odd accident and be prepared for this. We will of course support you in anyway possible.

This is Louis’ only downfall - we really haven’t met a more perfect and gentle cat otherwise. Having him in a pen long term isn’t fair whilst he just adores people and company but we also understand his needs are a bit more complex than your normal cat.

As Louis has had FIP, we have no idea on how long his life span will be so he absolutely deserves to be smothered with love whilst he’s here.

🩵🐾 🦴𝗔𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗢 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗦 𝗔 𝗛𝗢𝗠𝗘 🦴🐾🩵

Some of you may remember Apollo from 2024, after being locked away in a cupboard at 7 months old we stepped in and saved him offering him a much needed second chance!

Apollo was rehomed, but sadly due to an incident he was returned to us. More information on this will be given to anyone interested, but moving forward he will need an adult only home.

Within his last home it was reported that Apollo had become stranger reactive, but this isn’t something we’ve seen within the rescue so far. He’s met lots of volunteers with no issues, though he does take time for his true personality to shine through.

Apollo loves his walks, often getting zoomies on the grass and won’t say no to a treat. He’s super affectionate and loveable once he’s bonded with you, which doesn’t take long, you’ll then have a loyal friend for life!

We’re looking for a Cane Corso experienced home preferably that has the time & patience to help continue with Apollo’s training & socialisation. We’re also aware that he has lived with other dogs previously so pending successful introductions he could live with another large breed.

🐾💚 A HUGE thank you to Andy at Wrexham Cider! 💚🐾

We’d like to say a massive thank you to Andy at Wrexham Cider for his incredibly generous donation of £300, which will be sponsoring our next Doggy Day Out! 🐶🎉

These special days mean so much to our dogs. They give them the chance to experience some much-needed freedom away from the kennels, enjoy some proper exercise and, most importantly, spend quality one-to-one time with some of their favourite volunteers — without being at the end of a lead. ❤️

We also get to see so much more of each dog’s personality during these outings. Away from the kennel environment, they can relax, explore, have fun and simply be dogs! 🐕🌳 It’s amazing to see them enjoying themselves, building confidence and making those special connections with the people who care so much about them.

Thanks to Andy’s generosity, our next Doggy Day Out is going to be a very special one, and we genuinely can’t tell you how much we appreciate it. The dogs are going to have an absolutely amazing time! 🥰🐾

Meet Zak – Our Big Soft Survivor 🐾

Zak is a 2-year-old Cane Corso cross with a heart just as big as his paws. This handsome boy had a very unlucky start in life after breaking his leg while in a stray pound, where he sadly faced euthanasia. Thankfully, he was given a second chance — and he has grabbed it with both paws! Zak is now fighting fit, healed, and ready to find the loving forever home he truly deserves.

Zak absolutely loves his walks and exploring the world around him. He can be strong on the lead, so he’ll need an owner who’s confident and committed to continuing his training (he’s doing SO well with us and now walks like a different dog!). With consistency and guidance, he has so much potential to shine.

Despite his tough start, Zak is incredibly friendly and affectionate with everyone he meets. He adores human company, thrives on attention, and will happily soak up all the fuss you’re willing to give. He’s a big softie at heart.

Playtime is one of Zak’s favourite things — he loves his toys and would happily play all day if he could! Especially in water 💦 he has a fun, bouncy personality and brings so much joy and energy wherever he goes.

Zak will need a pet-free home, as he can be reactive to other dogs. We believe he likely had very little to no socialisation early in life. However, with the right environment and continued positive training, he will make an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. He could live with older children, pending successful introductions.

Zak has already overcome so much in his short life. Now he just needs someone willing to give him the stability, patience, and love he’s been waiting for. In return, you’ll get endless affection, loyalty, and a best friend for life.
