Friends of Lord Deramore's is a Parents and Teachers and Friends Association. We organise events throughout the year to raise money towards school equipment, materials, grounds upgrades, etc.
- Who are the members of FoLD? The parents, guardians or carers of any pupil currently attending the school, teaching and non-teaching staff currently employed by the school and any person over the age of 18
wishing to offer appropriate support or help to the school and who is accepted by the committee as a member. (Parentkind constitution)
- Who are the committee members of FoLD? We realise it gets a bit confusing with ‘members’ and ‘committee members’. Committee members are the people who take on an official volunteering role by being voted in at general meetings (open to all members) or by being selected by a current committee (‘co-opted’). They gain access to the resources available on Parentkind, the large organisation for Parent Teacher Friends type Associations such as ours.
- Can you have Co-Chairs? In fact it’s often been done in recent years (we’re happy to forward any questions to previous Co-Chairs). Roles can be split into skill set, types of job or time of year.
- Why do you often use a sheep emoji in your communications? Officially we’re called Friends of Lord Deramore’s Primary School. We choose the acronym FoLD (Friends of Lord Deramore’s). In the English language ‘fold’ can also mean an enclosure for sheep. Hence the sheep as mascot. 🐑😊 Linked to that is the phrase, ‘Welcome to the fold’ which sort of means ‘Welcome to the group’.
- What sort of events are planned in the near future? Please keep an eye on our updates and termly "Dates for your diaries".
- How can I contact you? Feel free to contact us via email, Twitter or Facebook. Each year class has a WhatsApp group set up with some members in direct contact with FoLD, so please, feel free to reach out to them. You can usually find members of the committee on the playground or running events.
- I'm very busy and I'm not able to commit regularly, but I still want to help. What can I do? FoLD organises events all year round and we always welcome all the help you can give us, big or small. We usually ask for help with big events (such as Christmas fairs), but please reach out if you want to help with any upcoming events.
- How can I join the FoLD 100 club? We run this draws once a month, but payments are required termly. These are done via parent pay, so please check your "pay for other items" updates on their website. Currently we ask for £10 for a term (4 draws) and every month there is 1x big cash prize, plus 2x runner ups.
- When do you run uniform sales? These uniform sales are a great way of minimising costs whilst reducing our impact on the environment. Win-win! We try to run these on the second week of each (half) term, but it ultimately depends on volunteer availability and our Yorkshire weather! We also try to run them in the morning and in the afternoon, to reach out to more people. If you're interested on a particular item and you can't make it to any of the sales, please contact us and we will try to find something suitable for you. Prices are £1 for logo items and 50p for non-logo items. Please keep an eye on dates through social media and WhatsApp groups. If you have any uniforms to donate, please do so during these sales too.
