WEA Hertford

WEA Hertford The Hertford branch of the WEA (Workers Educational Association). WEA are the largest voluntary-sec They normally run on Tuesdays from 10-11.30.

The Hertford branch of the WEA generally offers five term-time courses a year (two each for the autumn and spring terms, and one for the summer). Our current venues are the Bengeo Parish Church Hall, Duncombe Road SG14 3DA and Bengeo Club, Bengeo Street, SG14 3ES. Note re venues; there are comfortable chairs and toilets at both venues, but the Bengeo Club room is upstairs with no lift. We are open

to running courses at other times, pending demand; for example we had a popular day school (on film music) on a Saturday in May. Our recent courses have included the History of London, Pre-Raphaelite art, Shakespeare, and European history between the world wars. Our tutors and subject choices get consistently good feedback. Our courses are advertised around the town (watch out for our yellow posters), by leaflet to previous attendees' homes, and - now, hurrah - on social media! Recruitment is either in person the Tuesday morning before term starts, or (also now) online or by phone. Fees are kept as low as possible and courses are free to those on income-related benefits or occasionally in other circumstances. And if you're not sure a course or the WEA is for you, you are welcome to come along to a first session as a trial. We serve tea, coffee and nice biscuits just prior to each session, and have a buffet at the end of each term. Each course sees both new and returning members, so hopefully we're doing something right! Join us! - we'd love to see you.
