1ST SHIPLAKE SCOUT GROUP NEEDS YOU!!

THIS IS AN URGENT PLEA FOR YOUR HELP!!

Dear Shiplake Community

We are desperately hoping that you can step up and help! Unfortunately if not then the 1st Shiplake Scout Group will be forced to close its doors to the young people of Shiplake and surrounding villages!! This amazing Scout Group has been giving children ‘skills for life and adventures’ since 1912!

We rely on people like you playing their part to give young people opportunities to dream big, give it a go, and build skills for life.

You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to volunteer. We’re looking for people to help out in all sorts of ways in our meeting place and behind the scenes. At the moment, we’d especially love some help with:

Beaver section volunteers, to attend weekly meetings and to support current Leaders with activities, games and badge work. Lighting candles, building dens, making things from wood, clay, nature.

Cub section volunteers, to attend weekly meetings and to support current Leaders to run activities and badge work. Making fires, whittling, use of axes, how to wire a plug, etc

Grounds maintenance volunteers, mowing, raking leaves, dealing with brambles, nettles, etc.

Committee volunteers/Trustees, to help with the behind the scenes boring stuff, such as collecting fees, arranging fundraisers, dealing with the electricity company, Group publicity, etc

Whether you want to support young people or if you’re more comfortable planning an adventure from the sidelines, we’ve got a role for you.

Scouting happens when a lot of us give a little. You’re not signing up for a lifelong commitment – just to help out, when and where you can.

It’s up to you what your involvement looks like: we understand that everyone has different skills (and amounts of time) to share.

And volunteering’s a two-way street. Research shows that it improves your wellbeing and helps you build career-boosting skills. Let us know you’re interested, and we’ll give you any support and training you need to let your skills shine.

If you’ve got any inspiring ideas or questions, please get in touch by calling

Kaeti Williams 07762387056 or emailing [email protected]

Thanks for everything you already do to help your young person join in with Scouting.

Best wishes,
1st Shiplake Beavers, Cubs and Leaders

Hi all, if anyone has any duplo they are looking to rehome, please let me know. Berkshire Scouts will be taking these to Malawi at the end of July to support a school out there as part of Project Africa - anything (blocks, animals, people etc.) will be so greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading 🙂
