Located on the bank of the river at Henley-on-Thames,
we provide a range of activities from sailing and power boating to camping and seamanship.

Fun, friendships and adventure is what we’re all about. Whether at sea or on land, the Sea Cadets offers young people across the UK
amazing opportunities for personal development - by learning new skills and
working in teams - we offer an environment where young people find new
confidence and inspiration. Go on, get out on the water with us. Where you’ll experience the most
exhilarating – an

d unique challenges. Whether it’s hoisting the sail of
a yacht in stormy weather or navigating big waves in a powered craft,
or racing down a river in a kayak -nothing compares to the feeling of being
out on the water, right there in the elements. Plus, from dinghy sailing at the lake,
you can try kayaking, power boating, canoeing, rowing and windsurfing,
most of our courses are accredited too by the leading UK bodies
like RYA, British Canoe Union. Most Sea Cadet courses are recognised by leading UK bodies
– which means when you put time into one of them,
you’re working towards accredited qualifications. So, in short, you have fun, learn loads and end up with
some valuable experience. Drill, Piping and Music are traditional activities cadets take
pride in and there are competitions and ceremonial events
from fetes and carnivals to big ticket days
like national Trafalgar Day Parade. There's also the chance to learn a whole range of new skills from seamanship,

🚣‍♀️ Last weekend, cadets from Henley Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets were proud to support the prestigious Henley Women’s Regatta.

Throughout the event, our cadets played an important role behind the scenes, helping to hold racing boats at the start line before races and operating the floating pontoons to ensure the smooth running of the competition. It was a brilliant opportunity to experience a world-class rowing event up close and see what it takes to deliver such a major sporting occasion.

As well as gaining valuable experience, the event raises around £500 for the unit each year, helping us meet increasing running costs and invest in new training equipment for our cadets.

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time over the weekend and to the organisers of Henley Women’s Regatta for inviting us back once again. Your hard work, professionalism and enthusiasm were a credit to the unit. 👏

Last Saturday, our Henley Royal Marines Cadets took part in their final Gibraltar Cup training day as they continued their preparations for this year's competition next month.

🙏A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising and delivering the training, and to Shiplake College for hosting the event and providing access to their swimming pool at the end of training.

We are incredibly proud to announce that all four of our candidates have successfully passed the National Cadet Sergeants Board and have been promoted to Cadet Sergeant.

The National Cadet Sergeants Board is the highest promotion board in the Royal Marines Cadets and brings together the very best candidates from across the UK.

Over an intense weekend, our cadets were tested in:

✔️ Close Quarter Battle
✔️ Casualty Treatment
✔️ Signals
✔️ Map Reading
✔️ Leadership and instructional skills

They were challenged physically and mentally, pushed to maintain the highest standards and required to demonstrate the knowledge, confidence, determination and leadership expected of senior cadets.

To have one cadet pass is a fantastic achievement. To have all four succeed is something truly special and reflects years of hard work, commitment and perseverance from each of them.

We would also like to thank the volunteers and instructors who have supported and guided these cadets throughout their journey. Their dedication behind the scenes helps make achievements like this possible.

🫅A day our Royal Marines Cadets will never forget

Five of our Henley-on-Thames Royal Marines Cadets had the incredible honour of attending Windsor Castle on Friday as His Majesty The King, Sovereign and Captain General of the Royal Marines, presented new Corps Colours to the Royal Marines.

Representing the unit were:
⭐ Cpl Georgina
⭐ Cpl Monty
⭐ Cpl Tom
⭐ MC Charles
⭐ MC Oliver

This was a truly historic occasion. For the first time ever, The King, as sovereign and Captain General of the Royal Marines presented new colours to 40, 42, 43 and 45 Commando Royal Marines. The last presentation took place 25 years ago when The King’s father, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, presented new Colours to the Corps.

Ahead of the ceremony, our cadets stayed overnight at TS Windsor Castle alongside 24 other Royal Marines Cadets from the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and Volunteer Cadet Corps (VCC).

The cadets played an important role throughout the day, helping to distribute Royal Marines programmes to more than 1,500 guests before marching into the Quadrangle inside Windsor Castle. Following the presentation of the new Colours by The King, they marched out behind the Royal Marines and then stood guard along the VIP walkway.

After the parade, the cadets attended a Royal Reception where they enjoyed lunch and had the opportunity to meet members of the wider Royal Marines family, senior military leaders and guests including Olympic cycling champion Victoria Pendleton CBE, who holds the honorary rank of Colonel in the Royal Marines.

The highlight of the day came when the cadets met His Majesty The King, who enthusiastically asked them about being cadets and what their instructors were like. Each cadet also received a commemorative Royal Marines programme as a souvenir of this remarkable occasion.

We are immensely proud of how our cadets conducted themselves throughout the day. They represented Henley Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets with professionalism, confidence and pride and were a real credit to the unit.

A once-in-a-lifetime experience and a day that will stay with them forever.
